Unhappy My sewing room doesn't look like I have done a thing!

You girls are all doing GREAT!!!

Tip: NEVER! I REPEAT NEVER LET YOUR ROOMS GET AS BAD AS I HAVE!!! You don't want to got through this!!

This is the 3rd day I am working on it and I swear it looks worse than when I started! I have thrown out 2 more garbage bags full, 2 boxes full and a paperbag full of paperwork. Most of it was my railroad stuff from the 90's. I know I still have tons from the 80's too. I always had to save everything for documentation and now I am paying for it! I packed up a box of nick nacks for my sister and found lots more for the 'Fings for Sale' thread.

I found 2 shirts I made and only lacked putting buttons on and 2 more I made completed, don't have a clue why they were in there! Found more yarn and a sweater front and back done. Knitting needles, tea dyed doily cotton thread and a steel crochet hook.

I solved the problem with the thread. I don't have to buy any containers! I am using the shelves Jack built me special for them, one on each side of the room. I had some really heavy clear plastic (the type you use over a cloth tablecloth to protect it) cut a strip to fit on the front and stapled it up. Now I can still see my thread but it won't get dusty!

I'm afraid I may fall behind, it is still going to take me awhile in there. I'll keep plugging away at it. I may have to do my closets as I get to each room. We'll see, I still have a few more hours of work in me for today. I'll report in later.

Sara, I found lots of silk flowers I bought to make an arrangement, got any tips on how to do it??

I have tons of tips for floral arrangements. If you have an idea of what you might like, I could draw a stick diagram of placements.

Hey Dee, you are making progress, just think of all the stuff that you've gotten rid of. It takes time to organize!

You are going to feel so liberated when this is done.
Hang in there my friend, your getting there!!!!!

Oh Dee, I'll be behind with you if that means behind. I have the most awful scummy dreadful mess in the downstairs guest room. I have to dig DEEEP to get the closets sorted out so I can put the stuff away, so first I gotta move the stuff-- to get at the closets where the stuff belongs, but the closet is in a rumpus too!

    which is why I'm here

I was reeling in shock and wanting to run away in desperation!

The upstairs stuff is fine, I"ve kept on top of it, but the evil downstairs bedroom has been a catchall for "don't have time now, do it later stuff!!!!"

    ewwwww!

Sending sympathy, hugs and a definite prayer that we will both get thru our "rooms of doom and destiny."

ARRRRRRRGGH I'm diving back in now, if I come up for air again too often, you will KNOW that I'm procrastinating

    and you'll be right!

I'm making progress, I can see some countertop!

I may have one more day in there though. I am determined to get this done, so I am going to keep on working today and see how far I can get. Just taking a much needed coffee and village break!

Margery and Lucie, this is the pits! Usually when I did spring cleaning, I moved the boxes cleaned and put them right back. This year I am going through every one of them and tossing, flinging and tossing some more!!

I have more fabric (and yarn) than 20 people need and I still have 1 cupboard and 1 big closet full (like will fall out on you when you open the door full!) yet to go through!

Dee, it's all those goodies of yours. lol
I've only just begun with the sewing bug and my sewing table is a mess already. I jumped in with the best of intentions of being organized and already am in a heap of supplies.

I'm glad you're tackling it and hope you find even more fun things you had set aside. It'll be so nice when it's organized again.

I'm afraid to attack our garage. I still have boxes unpacked in the garage storage closet. lol

Dee your doing great, BUT PLEASE don't overdo it. Your health is far more important than getting it all done in a few days. Remember, it didn't get messy overnight, it can't be finished in a day.

Take some rest periods - they are so vitally important for everyone. You'll still get to the finish line, only much healthier and not totally stressed.

Lucie, I know you can do it. Just start with spring fling #1. Take a couple days to do the cleaning, but I know you can.

I was at super walmart last night and their notions section is bigger than the one at our local small Joanns. rofl

I was good and only bought a pincushion, some longer pins, and some snaps for some dresses for the baby. I could have went nuts just grabbing this and that for some far away project in my dreams. lol

    I love gadgets and supplies.

I already wished I had thought ahead on my quilting rulers. I saw some clear rulers that I would prefer than the yellow omnigrid rules that I bought. I find the omnigrid very distracting and I don't like measuring as it is. ugh Superwalmart had these nice and simple clear quilting rulers. They're cheap enough that I may get them anyway.

My point...ahh yes there is a small point to my rambling off again...it's easy to accumulate stuff you just love or that help you accomplish something you love to do.

I used to have my floral supplies all over and whenever I'd straighten it up, I'd forget where I organized it. When it was a mess, I knew the general area of where to look. lol

This time when I start off organizing my supplies, I am going to label things.

I've got my eyes on the bonus room as a craft room. It has a closet and the attic for storage and is right off my bedroom. Right now, it's not insulated well enough so is cold in the winter and way too hot in the summer.

    I'm rambling again. lol

    Ramble away Sara, I'll listen!

My sewing room is hot in the summer too, so usually I only work in there in the mornings before it gets too hot. We also put a ceiling fan in there to help.

I am about the most disorganized person I know! And now I'm paying for it.

I even found a pair of pants or a skirt (not sure which) that I had cut out, pattern still attached. I chucked it! It had been sitting in that box for so long (I think 18 years or so!) that the pins were rusted!

Yeah he is Michelle. He built all the countertops in there too so I could have a WORKING sewing room. I'm finding them slow but sure.

I am quitting for the day. I need a !

I have emptied all but 1 box in that room. I have filled some back up, but now they are categorized and labeled before I put them in the cupboard. I also have 8 big empty boxes just waiting to be filled for my sister as I tackle the rest of the house! Wait until I get to the kitchen, hutch and my tin collection!
