Does your town recycle?
If so, what are the categories?
We recycle cans and bottles together on Tuesdays and newspapers and cardboard separately on Fridays. I don't know if there are any fines if you keep them in the regular trash. My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Our town supposedly does. We bag our newpapers up seperately and then have one bag that all the aluminum and steel cans go into along with the recylced cardboard, glass and plastic bottles. Funny thing is that they keep raising our "recycling rates" here even though they started doing this to lower our garbage rates.

We separate our stuff and take it to the recycling bin in the middle of town once a week.

Yes, all Australian towns now recycle as part of the regular rubbish collection system. We have one wheelie bin (green with yellow top)for normal rubbish - mine is never full (I'm really proud of that); another wheelie bin (green with brown top) for garden waste and another larger wheelie bin (light green with yellow top) that is divided in two - one side for cans and all plastics and the other side for paper and cardboard. Everything is recycled and each rubbish tip has a shop where you can go and buy stuff that's been thrown out. You can also buy garden mulch that's made from the collected garden waste.

We have to bring our recyclables to a transfer station. We don't have to seperate the plastic, tin and glass but they do have to be in clear bags. Magazines get bundled seperately.
The rest of our trash we get picked up curbside at our cost and we burn our paper.~*Darlene*~

We have two bins here in Perth, one for normal rubbish which is black and one for assorted recycling rubbish with is green with yellow top. Everything goes in together in that one, it's not divided. Our tips don't have the shop system Bethany!Originally posted by forestdale

What a pity about the tip shop, Julia. You should get on to your local councillors and tell them to get their fingers out. Our garden waste bin is an added extra that we pay $50 a year for, the other two are paid for in our rates.
