Clear Your Surfaces!
Okay, today I am going to clear off all flat surfaces in my home by following Julie Morgenstern's "No-Brainer Toss List." Out goes:
-junk mail
-expired coupons
-outdated schedules/calendars
-old greeting cards
-old grocery receipts (if I haven't sent in for a rebate by now, I probably won't)
-invitations to past events
-expired warranties and service contracts
=instructions for items I no longer own
-expired insurance policies
-unread magazines (these I'm putting in a bag for vacation...my sisters-in-law and I pass them around on the beach)
-old catalogs
-investment and banking brochures that we never read
-receipts for non-deductible items
-business cards from people whose names I don't recognize
-solicitations from charities I don't donate to
-recipes I haven't tried in years
-bad quality photos, or those I just don't like
-articles or clippings I haven't reread in 5 yearsMy Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Oh right on!!!! Way to go.
I really like clear horizontal surfaces. It gives me mental breathing room, kind of like looking out to the horizon on a calm day or looking at the ocean.
It also makes room to work when you have to use that surface without the added burden of moving stuff off, then back on in addition to setting up teh work, doing it and cleaning up after.
saves so much time.
I like flylady calling them hot spots. She is really good at drawing attention to these surfaces.

Ok, I didn't exactly clean the the flat surfaces. I cleaned the cupboards. Four to be exact. I did ,however clean the counters when I put it all back.
I am doing one or two cupboards a day until they are all done.
