to mop or not?
I'm sick of my mop and bucket but I don't know what else to use to clean my floors. I know there are new thingos out there just waiting for me but I want something frugal and effective. If you use something great for your floors, please tell me about it.

Get a sh-mop!!!!
http://www.thecleanteam.com/catalog_f.cfm
I realize I'm going to sound like a commercial, but I've never seen anything that cleaned better but was soooooo simple to use!!
The thing swivels & can get ANYWHERE!!!!
I despise mopping, but since mine came in the mail, my floors have been squeaky clean!!!!! I won't even let anyone else use it!!
It takes a lot of motzi for me to wholeheartedly endorse a product, but this one gets my 100% two thumbs up approval! It's the best thing I've ever used hands down!!

Not too frugal BUT the Dirt Devil Floor Keeper and the Hoover Floor Mate are both awesome. Ihad the Floormate but my sister broke it, well it costs about $170 so I replaced it with the Floor Keeper which costs about $80 and they both work awesome!! It is by far my favorite way to clean hard floors (I do it for my wood floors and our cermanic tile floors).
If you only have 1 hard floor you need to clean I guess it wouldn't be worth it BUT our 1st floor is all hard and it is just awesome!!
It picks up dry and then you can wash the floor and then dry the floor it is just awesome if you ask me!!

I'm fond of my shmop, but lately I've been using a lighter cheaper imitation, that Swiffer dry sweeper thing.
It has a light mop handle and a rectangle of a head made of some stiff rubber. The top of the head has 4 finger poke things that will grab and clutch the disposable cloths for dry sweeping/dusting. You can get swiffer wet cloths that fit it too. this is diferent from the swiffer wet jet which I'm not fond of at all.
I use the poke holes for holding damp facecloths for damp mopping and semi dry sweeping.
I put a doubled over rectangle of nylon net on when I want to really scrub.
I can mop up spills with a damp dry facecloth, and if I put paper towels in it can be a disposable wax applicator.
I like it.
My shmop is double the surface area and is made to last. It has terry cloth covers that look like a terry cloth towel shower cap that fit over the head, and pull off to go in the wash.
Both shmop and swiffer clean walls, windows and ceilings as well as floors, but the swiffer also cleans tubs and shower stalls without bending over if you use the nylon net.
