    Default I'm Saved!! (longish)

I have been slowly getting rid of my shoes - at one point  I had 213 pairs. I am down to 103 pairs. (there is a psychological basis for this - my parents were broke and nuts, we lived in hotels and the car for about seven years in SCOTTSDALE!!!  so they we would look like we were doing well - and my brother and I lost all of our clothes in one of the hotel rooms we were locked out of and had to wear the same outfit to school everyday for a year - IN Scottsdale!! YEAH, NO DAMAGE THERE) So when I moved out at thirteen I became a clothes hound.

Anyway, It has been killing me to get rid of these shoes. But today, Aimee was able to fit into them - she says its like going to a store for a new pair and she says she will have a blast so now I don't have to get rid of them!!!

Wow Kimmee, you sure had a tough upbringing.

LOL @ the shoes. I thought I had a passion for shoes but mine is paled next to your collection.

You have lived through a lot of tough times. I understand your love for shoes. I don't have very many, but I have really big feet, and find it hard to find cute shoes...LOL. My fiance has more more shoes than I do.

I collected shoes for a long time. Finally got down to 3 pair of tennis shoes and about 8 pair of dress shoes. When I quit working I just didn't need the variety anymore but they were so hard to part with.

I'm so glad your dd can wear them. She'll have a lot of fun trying on new shoes.

I used to have over 100 pairs of shoes and am now down to 43.....roughly. Do I need them all?? Nope, but knowing how many I've had to declutter certainly keeps me from buying more!! WTG on the decluttering...and finding a new owner!

Wish I was close by, I'd help with that. Man we love shoes here too but try to keep it under a closet full!

I need to clean out my shoe collection also. It used to be huge, but I did purge quite a few after having all my kids. My feet grew bigger with each pregnancy!

Kimmee, I'm really sorry about all you had to go through as a child.

Kimmee if your shoe collection keeps you sane, it's cheap at the price, and you enjoy it. It passes Don Asletts test, it's not clutter, they give you joy and security.

Amazingly you are sane and providing a nice secure happy home for your kids.

    Well DONE!!!!!

PS I knew a gal with a horrific background, and she hung onto garbage, had a hard time throwing it out, because it was HERS! She has worked at it for years and is overcoming it finally but I think that is one of those places where it's not just clutter. It's about owning a place in the world.

I'd say shoes are a fairly tame possession and you enjoy them so get rid of other stuff first.

    HUGS and CONGRATULATIONS!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!!!

Kimmee, I am so sorry that you had to endure such a horrific childhood.

That is terrific that Aimee is able to wear the same shoes now, it will be like getting them at half price since you can both wear them, LOL.

Good for you! Those we some tough times growing up.

But beware that your clutter doesn't become your DD's clutter. You're not decluttering if your moving stuff out of your closet into another. You won't be doing her any favors by teaching her it's OK to hang on to 100+ pairs of shoes. Let her pick out a couple pairs she loves and just donate the rest.
