Oh, no!
A fire engine came into our neighborhood much to the delight of my 3 yo. A little while later, I ran the kitchen sink and the water was ew! It only just now occurred to me as I went to put the clothes in the dryer
that the washing machine would be affected as well. Things with white are a muddled brownish color. What do I do?

Baking soda!! run them through the washer, after the water is clear again and use baking soda as though it were your detergent. In Phoenix our water was brown, always, and I always used (and still do use) baking soda in the washer.

I should add that if there is rust in the water you'll need to add some salt.

I had some Tide w/ bleach powder on reserve in the laundry room and threw in half a box of baking soda with it and it worked!
Thanks, KimmeeMilissa
