what kind of Vacuum do you own??
I just bought a new Eureka bagless - I am not sure I like it though. I am not sure all the junk is caught in the filter and when you dump the bugger it all goes in your face
. I wash my carpet with my Hoover steamer everyother weekend while the kids are at daddy's and the water is just plain brown muddy!!
I am wondering about an Oreck - if they are as good as they say then I have dumped enough money on crap to have bought one.

Bissell bagless, not crazy about it. I had a Big Green Clean machine but it finally bit the dust (no pun intended)

Riccar. "The best vacuum you've never heard of." Our first one lasted 18 years. And they're so QUIET. I borrowed a neighbor's regular vac when we moved -- horrid noise.

I have three, a Dirt Devil, that works great, a Eureka that was bought last winter and worked for a few months.
(I'm still waiting for dh to repair it) and a Hoover that I'm happy with.

I have a $400 kenmore canister that replaced my electrolux it works pretty good . But with the cats I vacume every day and thought I would try the Bissell bagless for quick pick ups. Works ok but I wouldn't replace my regular vacume cleaner with it. I also had to remove one of the filters on it, the cat hair clogged the filter so much that it seems to work better without it. I guess I am just a cannister person I like how I can just whip off the power head to clean the edges of the floor or anything else I see that needs it.

Great timing on this thread-- I'm shopping for a new one!
The one we have now is 20+ years old-- a canister-- it was DH's dad's. It works ok, but it's old, VERY heavy, and held together with tape!
There's no way I'm dragging that thing up and down the steps. I'm planning to get an upright model, not sure what kind yet.
