Default Are You Ever REALLY Done?

On my to-do list for this afternoon was to de-clutter the office. Again. Now, I realize that I'm in a different sort of situation where we are still unpacking and I'm finding that a lot of the stuff I moved is stuff that I should have just gotten rid of, but at the same time, I know that this will be a continual process for me.

Do you think you are ever really done decluttering? The fact is, I don't really bring much new stuff into our home, yet I am constantly decluttering and re-organizing. As I wrote my to-do list, I suddenly imagined myself at 60 living in house with nothing but a computer sitting on the floor. I will have de-cluttered myself into owning nothing!

So, what are your thoughts on this process?

It might SEEM like we're not bringing much into the house, but we are -- groceries to stockpile; shelves to put the stockpile on; halloween decorations; donations for our troops; winter socks; school supplies.

But, the thing is to find places for them. Hard when moving, I know.

Amy, everytime I turn around, I'm having to declutter some thing!
I think it's the clutter fairy pulling it out of it's hiding places! It's a never ending process around here.

Amy, I've wondered about this myself. I don't think housework and reorganising ever ends but I think you must get to a point when you have stopped bringing junk in, and if you've dejunked enough over the years, dejunking must become redundant. Maybe, for successful dejunkers, it will just be a matter of putting out the trash each week.

I don't think I'll ever be completely done. I'm always decluttering papers here. I have a bad habit of somehow saving papers and always having to go through them and toss toss toss. I think I have a decent system, but geesh then why are there always a stack of mail or papers to go through and toss?

I think I've decluttered myself into a big ole empty house otherwise. rofl In fact, I'd really like to bring in a few nice things.
