silverware
what brand do you have? I don't have any one brand, i have a mix of everything. nothing matches. I am planning on going out next month and maybe buying a full set. Alot of my stuff has been eaten and destroyed by the garbage disposal and/or lost in the yard
I am also thinking of getting a set for holiday use sometime.
What have you in your silverware drawer? Do you have matching? do you have holiday silverware?~~ Missy ~~

My everyday flatware is a cheapy from Wally world, it has clear acrylic handles. My good set is Oneida, rarely use it, maybe once every couple years. Had it for years. I wouldn't put too much money into it unless you do alot of entertaining. just a thought.

I have two sets of Oneida. One is the Easton pattern - http://www.silversuperstore.com/oneida/easton.html- it's what we use for everyday. The other pattern is Aquarius - http://www.silversuperstore.com/oneida/aquarius.html - it's also for everyday use, but we don't use it currently. I had it and used it before I met dh. One of my aunts worked at an Oneida outlet store at the time and they had it in the bargain bins so I got a great deal on it through her.
Our silverware that goes with our fine china is also Oneida. It's the Golden Julliard pattern. We don't have a complete set and I honestly don't think we've even ever used any of it!

One thing: take a good look at your new silverware before you buy it. I bought a nice set, so I thought: Strauss pattern. But, on using it, we found that the (stylish) fork tongs are too long -- they nip my mouth. It was a pricey set (18/10 stainless; about $80 on sale, I think), so I'm stuck w/ it.
But I sure won't buy another set like it.2012 Knitting in progress

I have the colored plastic handles on mine. They are from about 5 sets and don't match. I have picked them up at yardsales. They are the heavier, older ones. I like them and can hardly use regular flatware anymore, 'cause it's too thin in the handles. I have quite a bit of old mix-n-matched fiesta ware, packed away and when they allll finally meet, they will go great together.

Our everyday set is a now-discontinued pattern that I got through the Betty Crocker catalog. My mom, grandmas, and I would send off for a piece or two at a time before DH and I got married.
My good silver was also through Betty Crocker~ my parents bought us the complete set as a wedding gift. We use it with our china on holidays and special events.

I only have an everyday set.
Some of the Kids bought it for me a long time ago.
Don't know the pattern or maker. Maybe Deed knows????
It is a set for 12 with all the extras.
Certainly has worn well.

My "good" set is too Amy. Our's is the Voila` pattern and I love it. Mom got us all the serving pieces and everything to go with it. We use it everyday now though, because I think it's too pretty to just use every now and again.Originally posted by AmyMCGS

Missy if you have a Tuesday Morning be sure to check it out when you buy your new flatware. They usually have a great selection of really high end stuff for the prices you'd pay at Walmart for the low-mid range stuff.
I bought dd a really nice set for 8 for about $40, reg. price $120 for Christmas.

Almost all of our mismatched silverware is the type with thick, plastic handles. I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands, and the kind with thin handles are too hard to hold.

our everyday set is Oneida Chateau. I don't have any other set and I can not stand the taste of cheap stainless or real silver!
