    Default Granite Countertops Cleaning Question

Our new countertops are granite. I had heard that some cleaning agents dulled it. Do you ladies know of what I can and cannot use to clean them?

I'm interested in knowing this too because we'll probably be going with granite when we remodel.

I'm assuming yours did get sealed after installation?

Amy, I don't have granite counter tops but we sell a lot of stone products in our store - marble vases and ornaments, onyx chess sets, granite morter and pestles etc.

Are you countertops sealed? If so, you can probably clean them with any non-clorox commercial cleaner, or any non-acid homemade cleaner. If they aren't sealed, you'll have to watch for staining and acids - like lemon juice and vinegar - they ARE NOT GOOD for stone. For stains I'd use a paste of washing soda and peroxide.

If the countertops aren't sealed it might be a good idea to do it yourself. It will save you a lot of hassles down the track.

I'll bet they are beautiful but no I don't have them and probably won't when we re-do. I love the way they look though. I hope you find out what to/not to use. I wanna see pictures when you're all moved in Amy.
