    Unhappy Arrgg!!!

I've been sitting in my youngest son's room, and trying to declutter. Oh, my. It is horrible! I truly don't know what to do with all of his stuff. Lots of junky things that he doesn't want to part with, but doesn't play with, either. Help! I'm losing it here.

My twin boys' bedroom is the same way. They can take bags and bags of stuff out of there and it's still a wreck! I get so oeverwhelmed by it all so DH now has the chore of helping them clean out and get organized (he is really good at this stuff).

I just read an article in the Sunday paper about hoarders. I hope I am not a hoarder! I do not want to be a hoarder! It IS hard for me to toss things. It is scary to throw things out. I can do it sometimes, but it causes me great anxiety during the process. I have just spent over an hour in my son's room, and I have found some things to give away, so I'm not hopeless yet. Anybody else have it this bad, too?

Every year my kids and I would haul out their bedrooms. I just told them we needed to clear some space for the gifts Santa would be bringing. I just let them believe Santa might bring fewer gifts if he saw that we had no space to put them in. More than likely this was the truth.

Too bad my kids are older! I have two teenagers and my baby is 10! Well, I have spent a lot of time in that room today, and I'm on my was back up there again. I had to take a treadmill break (and , village break. I have to keep my sanity somehow!) Still a very full house here, but I did break some ground. I have to keep motivated somehow. If I could just empty out stuff, the rest of the house would feel more peaceful, I just know it. Thanks for the replies.

My youngest is 10 and he is so messy! I need to get into his closet and get rid of a bunch of junk........he seems to know exactly what he has even though he hasn't played with most of what is in there in a very long time and if I try to be sneaky about it he will know what I dumped!!

I have had some success with letting Molly put some of the things she no longer plays with in our annual garage sale, and letting her keep the money from the items that sell. Price everything low so it is sure to sell.

Oh it's always so stressful to declutter in the kids' rooms. It was a struggle for us that reminded me of the energizer bunny, it just kept going............ . The good news is that when they move out (when they're grown) you get to clean it up just like you want!

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

I did this with my dd and ever since she finds stuff that she can sell, puts it aside and targets something she wants with the money. It's like getting she gets paid to clean her room and it's not my money!

I do need to say that there was so much stuff, it was her very own garage sale. She made the signs and invited a friend (and her own stuff to sell) to hang out with her for the day.
