Default How do you balance decluttering and.....(m)

...stockpiling? I am not really a stockpiler, so I don't know. But I can see how it is advantageous to get things on sale and stock up. Doesn't that kind of defeat the declutting thing?

To me decluttering means getting rid of items we no longer need/are no longer using - catalogs, junk mail, toys, clothing, magazines, cookware/bakeware/kitchen gadgets, etc.

Plus, you'll find that many of us stockpilers are very neat with our stockpiles-- having our shelves organized like a store.    There are some stockpile pics here: http://www.frugalvillage.com/supersaverscont.shtml   of village members' stockpiles.   I'll have to post some pics of mine some day soon.   That doesn't mean that I don't have other areas of the house to declutter, though!

Well, I guess I don't have to reply since everyone here explained it so beautifully! I'm actually quite anal about the organization of my stockpile! I need it neat and tidy so I can find everything! Since everything is something that we'll use, it's not clutter.

You feel good after you start to declutter & toss all the old junk you don't need or use anymore. Before I moved here I had a big three bedroom apt. I had friends who moved out of state & gave me a bunch of things they didn't want anymore plus when my mom passed away I got a lot of her things as well & felt like "things" were taking over but then my oldest DD was moving out & I needed to get a smaller place so I started packing things up & gave a few boxes & bags of things to a friend who was having a yard sale & tossed a lot of things & gave my oldest DD a few things so by the time moving day came we got everything I needed in 1 small U-Haul truck & I have been decluttered ever since. What a feeling of acomplishment that is
I also just gave a bunch more things away to a family who just moved from out of state & has 4 kids because there were a few more things that I realized I'm not using & they could.
