    Default Dishrag Question

Okay, I've asked this before, but I'm asking it again, because for some reason, I can't seem to wrap my brain around dishrags as opposed to sponges.

When cleaning out the laundry room last week, I came to the realization that I have a gajillion dishrags and that I could probably be using them. However, I just don't know how. I realize how ridiculous and stupid that sounds, but I was raised on sponges for washing dishes and Windex and paper towels for cleaning the counters and the table.

So, do you use a dishrag to wash the dishes? If so, how often do you clean it? Different rag each day? Every few days? Just put the soap right on the cloth?

Do you use a dish rag/cloth to clean your counters and table? Just water? Some sort of cleaner? Again, how often do you clean it?

(Let me add that Oprah's show last week where they found a billion bacteria on that woman's sponge in her sink is definitely giving me a bit more incentive to use a dishcloth as opposed to the sponge.)

I use dishrags Amy. I use a fresh one for each day. Them I wash them in HOT water. When I clean the counter I use the rag I used for the dishes with the rinse water. I put about a capful of bleach in the rinse water.

I use a dish brush for dishes and a rag for counters. If I'm deep cleaning counters, I use bleach/water. Sometimes I'll use an all purpose cleaner, windex, vinegar/water, or just water.

I always used sponges, but I love my dish brush and am glad I crossed over. I haven't used a sponge in ages now and don't miss them one bit.

I use one for a few days but it sits in a cup of bleach water - and I use scour scrubbers and run them through the dishwasher twice a day. (I run two loads of dishes a day) I use 409 and bleach on my counters and stove and I also use SOS on my stove - I am a chronic boiler-overer.

I'll confess~ I'm a big fan of the Palmolive dishwipes for dishes, because I can't stand having that gross dishcloth sitting in my sink all the time. I use a new dishwipe every other day or so and then toss them. :ahh: I know, I know, not so frugal, but, I stock up when they're on sale, so it's not too bad.

I do keep a regular dishcloth in the kitchen and use it for wiping down counters, stove, etc. I use it either with dishsoap or with Clorox clean-up, depending on what I need. I keep it rinsed out, then washed in hot water. If they get stinky I soak them in hot water with baking soda before washing.

I use a sponge in the sink and a rag for the counters.. I use bleach with the counters and floor daily. I use my rags for cleaning the initial "stuff" that gets stuck on my glass table top and then finish up with a paper towel to get rid of the lint. Also my dishrags are all white, so when I do a load of whites, which is almost daily here, I just toss in the rag and it is germ free. I also put my sponge into the dishwasher couple times a week as well as spray it down with bleach water every now and then..

We only use dishrags and hand towels here. No sponges or paper towels here for about two years. What a great feeling! I use a new towel and rag each day and i wash them in hot water with bleach. I only have white rags and towels so the bleach doesn't bother them.

I use dishrags. I get a fresh one everyday. At the end of the day I toss the other one in the laundry.

I also saw that Oprah show. I couldn't believe all the bacteria they found in the houses that were "clean"!

I use a clean dishrag everyday. I wash the dishes with it and then use it either with vinegar & water or pine power to clean the counters and stove.

*Saw a woman once use her germy kitchen sponge as a spoon rest and then use the same spoon to stir a pot of soup. Needless to say, I refused her invitation to dinner.

I use a dishrag for washing dishes and cleaning the counter top. I do not use sponges. Never have, never did like them.
