Default I have a clothing/shoe boggle: input please

I have a closet full of clothes - really cute clothes that I would love to wear again - all are too small right now and there are several levels of too small - its the classic delemna - however I am serious about losing weight right now. I don't have anyplace to store these clothes. Some of them haven't been worn in two years or more but they aren't out of style - they are classic designs that stay in or fit my character. In the last few months I have given away boxes and boxes of work clothes, professional clothes, evening clothes. I scarcely have anything to wear right now as I have really ballooned up in the last few months - since the summer when I started drinking so much beer - and I don't go anywhere so I am not buying anything new. I know when I lose the weight I won't have any money to buy new clothes and I will need these - But I can't determine if it is more discouraging to have them in the closet and if I ever wear them again. What should I do - Similar situation with my shoes - They are all high heels which I love and have collected for years - but Bruce is my same height so I know I won't ever wear them around him (plus, again, I never get to go anywhere ) the only thinkg is if he ever dumps me I would wear them again - but theres the what ifs again!!!

I just don't know what to do. Bruce won't let me buy any new clothes so I know if I lose the weight these are it -  On the other hand if I ever get tired of the control I might just rebel and buy all new... Help!!! I should add that Bruce (In his defense) doesn't change size so he keeps the same clothes for years - when he buys something its one thing - like a $300 Resistol hat  - he doesn't understand just buying clothes cuz styles have changed and he feels out of date so thats why he thinks I shouldn't spend money on clothes.

    Declutter, declutter, declutter!!!!

I would pick out a few items of clothes and a few pair of shoes and save them back, just for motivation!!!

The rest of it I would bag/box up and be on my way to the goodwill!!!!

It's always nice to have something around that is a little too tight now, but that you try on every now and then throughout your dieting to see the results..............

I would do the exact same thing. If you've read anything on decluttering, they will say the same thing. Seldom do you get back to those clothes (especially if you haven't worn them in 2 years). Like Roxy said keep a few things that co-ordinate and then donate to goodwill.

I agree, I'd do some major decluttering. Keep a few special outfits and then give the rest away. It's hard to get started, but once you get going, you'll find it easy to get rid of the clothes.

Bruce said tonight that I should box it all and keep it downstairs - he said if I do lose the weight then we can't afford for me to buy new and If I don't then Aimee might want some of it - and if nothing else it might all be worth something someday as antiques. I kindof think its a waste to box it and it will probably get ruined but I am not really ready to go up against him when he voices a stong opinion as there are so many more important things (like getting my name on the bank account) so my decluttering of clothes and shoes will be at somewhat of a standstill - please don't think I am weak - I am just picking what is most important to go up against him about and getting new clothes if I lose weight isn't as important (thus being able to unload these) as say getting my name on the title of the house so it isn't taken out from under me...

    Kimmee,
I prevoisly went from 207 to 134 (now back to 170 though). Right before I lost all that weight I tossed boxes and boxes of clothes. I could have just cried later!!!!!!! If you really like them I say hold on to them!
I now have a ton of 5/6's I'm working back into again (currently a 12).
I bought alot at thrift stores while losing and after.

I would hang on to them for a little longer, because it seems like you are set on losing weight. (I've read your other posts in Live for Life) Because since I've been losing some weight, I put something on out of my closet and I find myself thinking why is this all stretched out??? Then I realize it's because I've lost weight. So I've been cleaning out my closet of too big clothes and now I wish I had some smaller ones to fit into. So I would hang on to them for a little while longer and just bust my butt to get back in them!!! Good luck!! Or you could sell them on ebay and save that money for new clothes once you lose weight!!

Could you take them to a consignment shop? Then when you loose the weight, you can use your credit there to buy new to you clothes.
