Is your home usually company ready?
I've been cleaning the kitchen today and wondering, do most of us keep our homes company ready or mother in law ready, most of the time? I am usually "fairly" picked up and mostly cleaned with my house but sometimes I let things slide. (I just cleaned off the top of the fridge...Ugh I hate that job...seems to be one place that I can't make myself declutter b/c I have some knick knacks that I love up there)
I'm not an obsessive housekeeper but I do so love my home to be organized and clean. I don't really care for the "cleaning" for the most part but know that I have to do it or it doesn't get done anymore.

Mine is "they better call if they are coming over " clean

It's really not that bad & is just a bit messy with moving going on.~*Darlene*~

I try to keep mine company ready but I do appreciate a heads up before company pops in just to make sure that everything is in order. I am pretty lucky since I live 25 miles away from most of my friends they do call before they come out to make sure we are going to be home.

Oh gosh no! What with all my "to file" papers hanging around, and the little stack of "to do" that keeps moving from the table, to the bed, to the bureau, to the... well you get the idea.
Then there are the dishes, which seem to stack up so quickly, and then there's that "outgoing stuff" pile and the "miscellaneous box" we never emptied when we moved in Jan =P

Heck, lately my house hasn't even been "family ready!" LOL!
It used to be, but having a toddler changed all that. Things are getting better, now.

Nope. It's the end of the summer, all four kids have been home for 3 months, I just finished college.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it
But as soon as they go back to school (21 days) and I get back into a routine, it will be mostly company ready.

Mine is usually "company ready" but there are days when even I don't want to go inside my house!

Mine is always "company ready" but not "mother ready" lol.
My friends all know that I am a neat person, but sometimes it's just not happening. Plus my friends come over every week just to hang out, and they know that sometimes it's spotless, sometimes they have to watch me do dishes. THey don't mind.
My mom on the other hand gets all antsy and aggravated if there is a dish out of place, so I try to speed pick up before she comes over. Not much, just put all dishes away and pick up the blankets, pillows and newspapers.
But I also dont' have any kids yet, so I clean every single night after work, so yeah, it looks pretty good

I would say its frat house ready

We keep some areas always clean (sink, bathroom, dining table and kitchen counter) but other areas are always a mess. Often when school is in session everything becomes worse. We always have friends announce before coming over...so we can always clean a bit before. Even if they don't announce their arrival, most of our friends don't really care about the small messes here and there. Neither of our parents like the city, so we never have to worry about family stopping by and casting their critical eye everywhere.

Normally it's fairly tidy, I dont' worry if company shows up unexpectedly except for right now with painting mess all over.
