Default What is worth having TWO of?

I am trying to assess as I declutter.

For example, I have two colanders in my cupboards. Do I really need TWO? Probably not, so I should declutter one. Especially since my pasta pot has a drainer on it.

OTOH, one year, I was really glad to have an extra winter jacket for DD -- she managed to damage the zipper in her everyday jacket.

Now, I tend to buy my 'spares' deeply discounted or 2nd hand. I routinely pay $3-$10 for a nice winter jacket for the kids. So, by having a spare, I saved a lot of money ... and a shopping trip.

    ***********************
Right now, I have spare [or grow-into] jackets, snowpants, and boots.

What do you find it WORTHWHILE to have 2 or more of?

I keep extra cold packs for lunches, because my children invariably forget to put theirs in the freezer or accidentally put them in the fridge instead.

I also keep extra sets of hats, mittens, & scarves. They ALWAYS get lost over the winter. I just buy a few extra at the dollar store or something.

I have two crockpots. They come in handy when I have to cook for a lot of people or want to make a dessert & a main dish in the crockpot on the same day.

I'm sure there are other things, I just can't think of them right now. I have a little boy begging for a snack. Poor little thing is just wasting away

I probably shouldn't admit this, but I have 5 colanders. And yes, we use them all.

But, and this is a BIG but (which just sounds wrong,) I have LOTS of cupboard space- I actually have empty cupboards in my kitchen. So it doesn't really matter if I keep all of them.

As to what it actually makes sense to have two of, I will have to ponder that a bit and get back to you.

2 lipsticks. Same shade, my favourite. One on my dresser for mornings, and one in my purse for touch ups. ditto with the Avon lip plumping lip cream base. Keeps them from being chapped.

Other second things I keep a spare in my purse:
    Comb. Nail file/clippers/cleaner. Dental floss.
Tylenol and Imitrex for headaches and migraines.
Asthma inhaler. (I don't get an attack often but there's NOTHING worse than not having an inhaler when you need one)

Cleaners. I have the same set under each sink:
1 can comet (and a spare in the cupboard)
1 hm diluted spray cleaner (red juice)
    1 refill spray of Windex
    saves a lot of walking.

    Pens and postit note pads.
near Each phone. need we say more

tape, scissors, more pens in the desk drawer, but always more than one. they walk.

Dh's work jeans (he has a holey set with acid holes and a good set of 4 that are reserved for work days NOT working with acid)

Dh's running shoes--3 pair and I use this too, but with two.
    1 best
1 good these two rotate for freshness.
    and
1 for trashing up, such as painting or mowing lawns in.

I have to put this here.

It's worth having two or more of fat quarters for quilting. Two or more rulers and two or more seam rippers.

    Cats?

    Sewing or knitting machines?

Sorry gals, I'm not decluttering my babies, or my machines! ROFL

All joking aside, I'm one of the lucky ones that does have 2 vacuum cleaners, 1 up and 1 down, though I do lug the good one upstairs when I am doing major cleaning as the other doesn't have the tools.

Computers as Jack always wants to use it when I'm on and vice versa.

Coffee pots, sorry but we are hard core coffee drinkers here, we couldn't live without a coffee pot!

These other replies have reminded me

I also have two coffee pots. One is a back up incase we have company or *gasp* one of them breaks!

I also buy two sets of bathroom cleaning supplies because we have two bathrooms upstairs and one downstairs. How they managed that in a 123 yr old house is beyond me....

I have 3 ovens. When I moved into my home there was an electric stove but I am a trained professional chef and preferred a gas stove so we had a gas line installed and moved the electric stove to gather dust in the garage. I travel a lot and sometimes am in a new location for as long as a year. Many hotels that offer long term stays have kitchens with burners but no oven. So I purchased a commercial tabletop electric oven. It is presently sitting in my basement but I will definitely be moving it upstairs soon to cut down on the upcoming high gas prices.

I also have a vacuum upstairs and one downstairs and I have two televisions.

I like to have two laundry baskets and two laundry hampers. I have one basket for taking clothes outside to hang on the line and one basket in the laundry room for storing clothes to be ironed. I have a landry hamper in each bathroom.

I have two baking dishes, two muffin pans, two frying pans.

I have multiples of my cooking pots and pans. I use alot of them when I cook for company or holidays. Also 2 vacumns, one upstairs and 1 down. Multiple rolls of tape, pens, scissors, paint brushes as these tend to disappear. I also pick up second appliances secondhand and cheap, such as coffee pots and food processors ,to store in the basement. When 1 breaks I dont have to pay full price for a replacement. Only good to do if it is really cheap. Oh yeah.....also have 2 goats, 2 dogs and multiple chickens!
