Default Getting ready for old man winter

We cleaned the stove pipes today. Wow! There sure was a lot of creosote in there! I'm glad we did it. I have been wanting to do this for a bit. We also wanted to clean the basement. We started that monumental task last week. As a result, I free cycled a lot of things. Now we need to start cutting wood. We have about half a cord so that should hold us for a while. We will do it when it gets a little cooler and the bugs are less.
It feels good to have that stuff done.

It's fun to hear what other people do to prepare their homes for the winter.

    Thanks for Sharing, Marcia!

Dh cleaned two of the chimneys yesterday. He also started putting away all the lawn furniture. He has yet to finish the pool, and we still need to get the garden hose tucked away once everything else is done.

I have to get out into my garden (which is still producing nicely, btw) and put it to sleep for the winter.

We got our pool closed last week end and I got the hoses put away today. Lucky you BTW on your garden. Mine didn't have a good growing season. We WILL get those $%*&! ground hogs! And we WILL have a good garden next summer!

About a month ago, we hauled a bunch of firewood that still needs to be split.

Last weekend, we took the swamp coolers out of the windows.

This weekend, we put up 2 of those plastic garden sheds (3' x 5'). They went up fast! Now we're organizing and storing yard tools.

DH is doing some minor car repairs. For example, he's rotating tires this afternoon.

I forgot to add flipping the switch on the ceiling fans.

Put up the plastic on my windows. Glad that is over with. There are two windows I didn't do. If we have a nice day I want to open up the window and get some fresh air. Once it starts to stay cold going to put the plastic on the windows. Switched the ceiling fans. Thanks Kimberlina for mentioning it. Almost forgot! Did that just before I wrote down my reply. Cut down some of the flowers in the garden. Will be doing the rest next week-end. I also bought a programable thermostat. Was going to install it. What a joke. Said it would take only 15 minutes to install it. HAH! Going to have the neighbor put it in for me.
