Least Favorite Household Chore
I can hear it from the kitchen...calling...calling...
"I'm full of clean dishes...come empty me, Amy...come empty me!"
Although it beckons with the promise of dishes that are clean once more, I cannot, I will not, make the trek to the kitchen to empty that dishwasher.
I hate emptying the dishwasher. Why? Beats me, but I hate it. That and putting away clean laundry are my two least favorite household chores.
What about you? Do you have a least favorite household chore? My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Without a doubt folding, organizing, and putting away clean laundry. I actually really like any task that has to do with water; mopping, rinsing, etc.

I don't mind laundry.
I hate mopping the kitchen floor!
I don't feel like a mop does the job good enough. The only way to get it truely clean is to do it on your hands & knees. Of course I don't *want* to do that.
Also, it involves picking up all the chairs, etc. UG! What a pain in the patootey!
So, it doesn't get done as often as it should.

Washing dishes by hand. Yuck!
For some reason, I also don't like taking wet clothes out of the washer.
Anything else is fine, particularly scrubbing. I'm an instant gratification junkie, so any scrubbing where I can see the results immediately (except dishes) is fun!

Cleaning the basement
I hate going down there, I put it off and it gets so cluttered. Its the place where I put things just to get them out of my site. Stuff grows! I need some stuff control

emptying the dishwasher so I kind of "fool" myself. I try to do it while waiting for breakfast to cook or tell myself I have to earn my second cup of coffee, by quickly unloading it.
I like cleaning generally but I've noticed that when the clutter starts to creep in, and I start avoiding a room or an area or a chore it's usually something I'm not really conscious of.
when I see that, sometimes it's been going on a while. Getting to the root is important.
I didn't like putting laundry away till I developed my drawer toss method where I do a load or so a day (less with kids gone tho) and just toss the laundry as I sort, right into the drawers, which I partially open.
When I was doing it for the kids, I would have a basket for each kid. Toss in basket, then onto their beds.
Doing no more than a load or two in a day kept it manageable and I started liking it again.
I found I liked dusting after I got rid of most of the horizontal surface clutter. One grand gesture of the duster does it all, rather than fiddling in and out, in and out.
Right now the thing that is bugging me besides the dishwasher, is the mess of tools on ds's old room floor which is there to be handy for the everlasting reno. I clean around it once in a blue moon, but the dust is bugging me, and if I put the tools away it's going to slow dh down, so I'm just gritting my teeth for now.

Without a doubt it's folding and putting away clothes. It bothers me so much that I just don't do it. I simply empty the dryer and leave the clothes in the laundry room. DH hates it! He is so meticulous about it, you should see how organized his sock drawer is. He's out of town alot as am I but whenever he comes home he'll fold all of the laundry and bring it upstairs.
Now this is not to say I'm a bad housekeeper as I'm up to par in "most " areas of my homemaking.

I don't like the dishes... Even though I use the dishwasher and pretty much only hand wash my pots and pans... I find it mundane to always be cleaning something, ie. dishes, just to turn around and have the exact ones dirty along with another umpteen more....
It is something that is soooo boring, and in a sort of way, frustrating, because it never seems that that chore is ever finished..
With three kids who can make a huge mess in a short amount of time, it is even more frustrating... They will not try to clean up after themselves, or when they do I still have to follow behind them...... OH well, this is becoming a rant instead of the topic. Sorry......

Mom22girls I totally agree with you! I hate mopping with a passion. Sweep, move chairs, mop, move chairs. Have my mop and bucket out in the garage and have to go get it (garage not attached to the house). Hate keeping the mop and bucket in the house. Smells mildewy (sp). Than have to empty the bucket half way to get clean water. UGH!!!!!

I don't mind handwashing dishes, emptying the dish washer or actually "doing" the laundry. But I hate folding & putting away everyone's clothes. And I hate ironing & hanging things on hangers. I've sort of conquered my dislike of folding by putting on music and dancing around while I do it, with Isabel "helping" it doesn't seem like such a chore. But I still hate putting clothes away.
