Default Today I start on 2 more of my kitchen cupboards.

Well , last week I cleaned out one cupboard under my counter...it was more of a junk cupboard, anyhow It had inside flyers, some magazines, plastic odds and ends etc . Once I cleaned that out it now is home for my toaster, bread machine and air popcorn popper . This alone made a huge difference as the 3 machines were on top of my counter for the longest time and took up space there not to mention looked cluttered.

Today I am tackling the 2 cupboards which have the plates, bowls etc ....it doesn't look that great at all as I also have meds, papers, sugar bowl cover, margerine container cover, pkg of fish food, cat food, freezer baggie, bread clips in a baggie, etc in there too. I picked up 2 sets of Corelle dishes this weekend and all of the old dishes are going.....Yes.....going , they are all old mismatched, chipped, bulky thick plates, bowls and so on. My new dishes won't take up even 1/2 the space and they are simple looking, plain white, no design.

I wish I had a camera so that I could post on here before and after pictures....yes even the before even though I would be ashamed as I don't want my cupboards to look like that ever again. Dd 14 wants a digetal camera for Christmas so if she does get that when Amy starts her new house new year challenge I will be posting pics of the before and after. Maybe that is what I need to be held accountable .

I am on a mission ....my bedroom I did awhile back and even though I just have to put the clean clothes in my dresser from on top my dresser, make my bed and give a quick sweep I have been doing good there.

My living room I did a few months back....I am trying to simplify so that isn't too bad at all, the only ornaments in my living room are 2 white oil burning ornaments and 2 pictures (not including 3 pictures on the walls) and a tin brown rooster that my mom picked up for me a few years back, it burns a tealite candle. I do have 4 plants in there. The other stuff is the norm, armoire, movies in the armoire, dvd/vcr combo , sofa, chair, curtains and for end tables I just have 2 t.v trays 2 lamps and a country wooden bench.

I think it is going to take me a bit to organize my kitchen but once I get that sorted I am moving on to the bathroom, then family room etc. It didn't happen over night so I don't expect to get it completed overnight but at least I have goals now and know how I want it to look.

I think it helps to type this down as now I can't wait to get at those cupboards so I am off and running.

Well I am taking a bit of a break with a nice hot cup of tea. I just spent almost an hour just on those 2 cupboards. I even had a small cutting board, toothpicks, bottle of the kids white glue, eye glass screwdriver plus a few more items which I hadn't expected in there. I found a home for most of the objects so far and chucked the rest.

I didn't realize how hard it would be to chuck some of those dishes...on the top shelf though I did keep a couple of plates/bowls but at least they are tidy and only a couple even though I won't be using them....I just couldn't throw them out and they are only ugly dishes ....it is odd, I mean I can't believe that I am attached to these objects.

I need to go through my pots and pans, they are also old but good enough that I don't have to replace them.

What I am really dreading are all of the containers, i mean I have empty margarine containers for petes sakes but I do use them for dh lunches and for left overs I just have more then what I need. I have some clear containers which I had bought awhile back but I can't find 1/2 of the lids to go with them. I guess that I will just get a garbage bag and keep a few and try to decide where to keep them. I think that I saw a thread here on containers so I am going to go and see what I can find on that and then back to the kitchen/containers.

Thanks to all for the encouragement

I think you are doing great! I really need to organize my pots and pan cabinet- my dd goes in there all the time and pulls them all out, I need to remember to lock it up. I have a junk drawer- you would die if you saw how much is in there! I'm going to do that today if i have time.
