What can you part with today?- 12/9/05

Okay, a few weeks ago, I challenged you to get rid of one item. I'd like to challenge you to do the same again today. It can be a tiny item that you toss, all the way up to a bag of garbage you pick up from around the house, to some clothes you donate, etc.

Yesterday I sold my breadmaker to a woman at school. I've been wanting to get that out of here for years, and now, not only did I get rid of it, but I made some money as well!

Today I'm going to post on Freecycle a box of toys that the kids no longer play with. The box has been in my basement since the garage sale that wasn't. I'd rather give them away than have them take up space.

What will you part with today?

Neat challenge, it seems I am always on a declutter mission! Our library is having a book sale tomorrow and I brought down another box of books.

I tossed outdated medication. Also, I took out three bags of trash to the garage. I'm still in the middle of decluttering the pink room. Most of the contents are sitting in my living room right now. So, after I finish my cup of tea, I'll be getting rid of more stuff.

Yes, I think of you often as I'm sorting through junk in my perpetual job to declutter. I keep thinking that if Amy were here, she'd probably toss out 3 times more things.

You know, I bet you could earn extra money being a professional organizer. People pay for professional help.

Oh, and I forgot I got rid of one more thing. This is soo gross. I threw out decomposed mushrooms. This is the first time this has ever happened to me. In my frantic stockpiling shopping during the fall, a container of mushrooms ended up with some of my non-perishable items. I've been putting a lot of things in the basement bathroom shower. No one uses it so I thought I'd use the space for paper towels, toliet paper, etc... Well, my laundry room is attached to the bathroom. I couldn't figure out what the odor was. I mean for at least two weeks, I kept smelling something. At first I thought it was the wet clothes...then I found the culprit. It was so gross. The mushrooms had turned to liquid. Yuck!

Shannon, I would love to become a professional organizer. It's hard to get it going through, because business is generally through word of mouth and you can't get a job doing it until you've had a job doing it, etc. The perpetual cycle.
