Default How is it that a junk drawer can get decluttered and days later....

Be cluttered again. How does yours look?

I'm going to be decluttering mine again today. I really do need to put a sign on that drawer - throw the stuff out instead of in here.

Anyone else's junk drawer like that?

I think it's the mere fact that we call it a "junk" drawer! Everyone feels inclined to throw junk in it!

I no longer have a junk drawer. At my old place we had 2 and what a pain it was. I could barely shut the things! Now I have limited space so I omitted the junk drawer thing all together.

Tell me about it! I'm the biggest culprit with the junk drawer

Now, if it stayed decluttered, it wouldn't be a junk drawer would it? It's the junk counter tht bothers me! Lol, just kidding.

I put bins in mine. seems to stay neater.

One bin holds film canisters that hold the small objects you collect; rubber bands, twist ties, thumb tacks, screws to who knows what, picture hangers, things like that.

Another bin holds pet stuff; nail clipper, hair brushes, toys

Another bin holds pens, pencils, rulers, stapler, scissors, tape, etc

The final bin holds a small tool collection. (big collection is in the workshop- that's DH's space)

Finally, the extra space left seems to be where the 'junk' lies. The stuff that nobody knows what to do with. It's this small 8"x8" spot that needs the decluttering. This I do while I talk on the phone- right above this drawer.

I made it a habit to clean the drawer if I must talk on that phone.

If the drawer is clean, then I must clean the catchall basket on the counter- right above the drawer. And so on. Multifunctioning.

that describes my desk drawer in the living room that holds the phone books.

I think it's a law of the universe like that one about thermo dynamics, the one that states that things always proceed to disorder and confusion and falling apart.

    Mess is a universal law.

I'ts also an expression of the universe that mum will say something rich and pithy when she finds her hard work undone so fast and to such an extent.

Sometimes it's something small children shouldn't hear!

    Bad words or

mum's kitchen expletives as they are known over in THIS corner of the universe.
