Keeping ideas organized

I'm the queen of good ideas....but then a month later, I don't remember them! Like gift ideas, decorating ideas, etc. It's been driving me crazy and I've been wanting to come up with a way to keep my thoughts/ideas collected and organized.
So, yesterday I got three sets of index cards on a spiral ring. Basically, note cards you can flip through (.97 each at Walmart)
One set will be for house ideas, one set for garden ideas, and one set for gift ideas. Now, when I think of something, or see a great idea in a magazine or on TV, I will write it in the corresponding booklet and date it for referance! (I can keep magazine pages, etc. filed as usual, but I'll have a quick referance at hand)
Right now I have pretty much all my ideas down for Christmas gifts this year, all I have to do is work on them. Lots of garden/landscaping ideas too. Or when someone mentions a gift they would like, etc.....Also using for comparison notes while shopping for new appliances, furniture etc. (which we are currently doing)
I'm excited to see how this works out
