Multitasking
Are you a multitasker? If so, what are some ways that you make the most of your time?
I was thinking about this today as I showered. While my conditioner was moisturizing my hair, I was scrubbing the tub and walls with my SOS pad that I brought in with me. The shower had to be scrubbed, and I needed to condition. The boys were sleeping, and it was the only time I was going to have today to get that chore done.
So, my hair is soft and my tub and shower are clean.
Do you have any creative ways of multitasking? If so, let's hear them!My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

hahah i thought i might be the only one who cleaned the shower as i bathed. i guess not. as for multi tasking, i'm horrible at it. when i start something, i'll see something else that needs to be done and i'll stop the first task to go do the second task. next thing i know, ive taken out the trash, cleaned the bathroom and started a load of dishes just while gathering up the laundry to take to the laundry room. i get so distracted when i clean that it takes me all day long just to do a couple of things.

I actually multitask a LOT!
************************************************
One of my best routine multitasks: I sit beside the kid who is doing math problems ... and I knit!
That way, the kid can't escape into daydreaming. And I'm there when they have a legitimate question.
I tried reading, but all the whining broke my concentration.
************************************************
I often knit during TV. I surf during TV. I talk to one of the kids while I clean up the kitchen.

Yes, I try to stay busy at all times (unless Im ill) I will sometimes clean my shower walls while letting my conditioner work.
I wash dishes or fold laundry while on the phone.
I'll do dishes while preparing dinner.
I'll surf the web while having lunch.
Yep, I read on the potty too!

Every morning I go downstairs to the kitchen, finish loading any dirty dishes and turn on the dishwasher, then sometimes I'll throw dinner in the crockpot, and every morning I also throw a load of clothes in the washer. Although the machines are doing the actual work, I feel like I'm accomplishing a lot, washing dishes, cooking dinner and washing clothes all at the same time. It kind of makes me feel like superwoman as it only takes me between 15 and 30 minutes to do all three chores. What a way to start my day!
I also clean or cook while I'm on the phone. Lots of times I'm on the computer, while watching tv and talking on the phone . I've read studies that say multi-tasking is counter productive but I'm not about to quit.

I don't scrub my showers. Well, I don't anymore. I did one thorough scrubbing of them while I was about 9 months pregnant, including the curtain. Can we say nesting?]
But I bought this cleaner by Method that is made specifically to spray daily in your shower and it eliminates the gunk that makes soap scum.McD

Folding clothes while watching tv
wipe down bathroom while small kids play in tub
surf the web, listen to talk radio and eat a snack while dd naps
make a silly game out of dancing around the living room to entertain dd while dusting (which I dread)
or, I have the days like halloweenfreak where I get megga distracted and flit from thing to thing and get 15% of everything done and nothing completed!

Typical: On the phone, watching the kids, cooking dinner, putting away groceries while boiling the baby bottles and putting water on to boil for the next batch, while I have a load in the washer and another in the dryer. I am every woman!

Staceyy! We must have been seperated at tbirth. Your morning starts out just like mine! I've got more machines running in the first 1/2 hour of the day then all the rest of the day. Dishwasher, crockpot, washer, dryer and coffee pot!
We're all potty readers here! Sometimes the same book will have 2 or 3 markers in it to mark all the different readers. Also crossword puzzles.

I read posts on frugalvillage while I'm at work. I guess that qualifies.
I tend to do several things at a time while I am at work.
I do dishes while cooking (when I do dishes...). I do housework (sometimes) while watching tv. I will sit down to watch xyz program and during commericals I get up and do cleaning. I am sometimes amazed at what I can get done during an hour long show.

Multitasking is my calling in life, I believe.
I listen to my son read his homework while I make dinner while the laundry is going. I clean the shower stall while in the shower and wipe up the bathroom counters while fixing my hair and doing my make up. I do all kinds of things while on the phone. I menu plan and make grocery lists while at wrestling practice, I batch cook on Sundays, which means I have a turkey or a ham in the roaster, a meal in the crock pot, pancakes going in the electric skillet, rice going in the rice cooker and soup or spagetti sauce on the stove while the cookies or muffins are going in the oven. (sometimes I even have laundry and dishes running during all of this) It sounds a lot more complicated than it is LOL!!! I also catch up on reading while I work out on the elliptical machines or treadmill at the gym.
