What I've done is reassign and rename it. If it's called the "junk drawer" that's what it attracts. If I call it the "office supply" drawer, then only pens, pencils, pads of paper, and paper clips, etc. are what go in there. Give it a shot! It might work for you!

Good idea, Amy. I'm going to give it a shot. I have 5 junk drawers, & junk is what they have in them. 90% of the stuff in there never gets used.

We USED to have a junk drawer, but I always tell everyone if it's junk throw it away... no longer do we have a drawer such as that but the kids now pile the junk on a table and I go around throwing everything away.

Ours seems to be at the point DAILY where the drawer gets stuck. It is full of batteries, incense, little screwdrivers, playing cards, receipts.... I have to get a grip on it. *sigh* DH needs to keep his handyman stuff in the shed!

These are my favorite drawers when I clean out peoples homes! Here is where I find pens, pencils, rubber bands, and thumb tacks that go to my friend who runs a Amish school in Kentucky. She teaches 1-3 grade and can always use these items.
Small hand tools, buttons, sewing items and toys go to my friends in Haiti who are missionaries. We have a kitty litter bucket in the garage that we fill and then send via Agape flights to them.
Since I'm constantly clearing out these types of drawers in others homes we lack one, go figure??
