    Default buying supplies

yesterday i wrote down what i need to make my bedroom closet clean and organized. I threw out all the old clothes that were stained. put the ones that i was giving away in one pile, and the ones that don't fit me yet in another. I have lots of craft papers , patterns, magazines. some are in binders, but their getting old now, and worn out. So i'm off to the dollar store to get 5 of those upright plastic holders to store the papers and other conatiners to house small objects i buy in bulk. can't wait to get all tidy. Those platic shoe holders i think Ill get one for all my small projects to hang up on the rack on the side of the closet.

I cleaned out my closet!!ahhhhhhh what a feeling of completion!! I threw out alot of old pares and are going to reuse the other side for printing projects for the kids. recycle lol
I can actually see the top of the closet, its a walk in closet. We have a sewing machine in the middle of the closet that doubles as a table for our T.v. we use the sewing machine rarely and the t.v. aint heavy .thers still lots of room that goes way up to top of ceiling so Im going to keep looking for other ideas and plastic things to satck on each other epecially on the corners of the closet. Things i don't use very often. then evrything is very tidy and accesible and easy to see. The palstic shoe holder was no good, i looked at ir, it was too small , it was for little kids shoes under 5 yrs old and very bright primary colors. lol

I love organization. Plastic bins/containers make great tools for that. I especially like the see through kind.
I'll bet you can collect a lot at yard sales.

For me- though... and it's just me... I have a hard time tossing clothes that are stained. I'm a textile person. I would cut the clothing into 6 inch squares and store in a box, plastic bin until I have enough to make a quilt. GM tought me that.

When momma passed away 3 yrs ago. (God, please rest her soul- I miss her) I couldn't bear to get rid of her clothes. I took out 11 large trash bags of clothes. My brothers and sister (8 of us) all thought I was ripping off the family.

In one year, I made 9 quilts- one for Dad, one for each of the sibs.
Every member of the family had exactly the same outfits coordinated in a nine-patch design. Each member had a different nine-patch design, ex; sister has the snowball pattern, brother1 has the windmill pattern, etc.Except dad- who had all 8 designs in his quilt.

Well- you should have seen the tears flowing when I gave them their quilts. I never washed the clothes prior to making (they were already clean)- so my mom's smell was still in the fabric and everyone had thier noses to their quilts... saying... 'it's MOM!!'

You just never know what you can do with fabric.

Currently, I still have her 'special occasion' outfits that I can't part with and couldn't incorperate into the quilt- but I have plans..

frugalfanny, I am a total TOSSER of things, but I have saved bags of precious baby outfits and clothes from the kids. (Like everyone does)
Someday I will pay someone to make me a quilt of their clothing. It will be great.
Maybe I can also pay someone to make their baby books out of all these bags of momentos...

That is the most touching story FF. Your bothers and sisters are so blessed to have you. Thank you for sharing it FF.
Our DMinL passed away last spring. I miss her so very much. She was a wonderful woman who touched many lives. She was also a great quilter. Her quilts cover every bed in our home as a silent reminder of her blanketing love for all of us.

Wow, what a fantastic idea. Did you use different kinds of fabric in the quilts or all the same. For example, material from t-shirts, blouses, slacks, suits all in the same quilt?? I'm going to have to give serious consideration to this. Very cool.

    Cheryl,
Oh my your going to make me cry!!!
You are a doll, u know that!!! What a sweetheart!!
Yeah, i use to be the same way as you, hard to throw out stained clothes, not anymore. i have one sweater, one pants and one tshirt for painting, haevy cleaning, all stained, just for that.
Yeah thats good idea looking at yard sales for bins. I went back after Easter to get that silver coloured easterv straw and they had put away right away, i missed out on that. Oh well. there was 2yard sales this weekend, but had no money left to go to it. maybe next weeks (hunnys).lol
