    Default Washing Dishes

Do you rinse, soak or wash your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher? I soak mine and quickly wipe them before placing in the dishwasher.

I usually just rinse then put them in the dishwasher......if they are really messy I will wash them quickly before I put them in the dishwasher.

Most of my dishes will come perfectly clean without any prerinse at all. Now if I know I'm not going to load them and wash them before too long and if they have something really sticky on them (like egg) I'll prerinse. Otherwise I just let the dishwasher do the washing....lol.

I just scrape the food into the garbage disposal. Most of the dishes do not even touch water until they are being washed by the dishwasher. My MIL, on the other hand, washes the dishes...with soap & a scrubbie...then runs them in the dishwasher for a full cycle. Why, I do not know LOL.

Only if egg or starch is dried on, otherwise, I fire them right in after removing large deposits like chicken bones, hunks of skin or fat.

    Whats a dishwasher?

It was one of the selling features of this house when it was bought 6 years ago We use it once a year, twice if Im good! LOL

I dont see a point in washing them only to rewash. Just handwash here most of the time until Christmas - too many people and meal courses to wash by hand on that evening. Sometimes a huge bbq in the summer but then I just use the disposable stuff - makes it MUCH easier.

I rinse them under the hot water and then put them through the dishwasher. I do this because we only wash them once a day usually, in the evening.

I may be the last woman in the free world who doesn't own a dishwasher. We have talked about getting one, but I just dont want it. When I visit my daughter, I run water and start washing her dishes and she says, Mom just put those in the dishwasher. I just don't like dishwashers. I guess I'm weird or something, but I kind of enjoy doing them by hand. Yeah, it's official, I'm weird.

Joy, up until a couple of months ago I didn't have a dishwasher either. I lucked out when my brother had one given to him that neither he nor my mother could use. I enjoyed doing them by hand, but I like the water savings I'm seeing now too.

I run mine once a day...first thing in the morning I do the lunch & dinner dishes from the day before and the breakfast dishes. The only stuck on thing I think my dishwasher has problems with is eggs.

I don't have a dishwasher either and haven't in several years. At first I didn't like it but now I don't mind it at all!

I rinse and then run them through the dishwasher. If I have stuck on stuff I SOS them first. I love the dishwasher we have so many dishes here I run it at least twice a day.

I have to rinse and pre-wash a few things. It's just me and hubby, so I only run the dishwasher every 3 days or so.

    I don't have a dishwasher either.
In TN when I had one I rinsed off a few things as I only used it once a day. More around holidays and partys.

I just quickly rinse and then toss them in the dishwasher. I, on adverage, have to run the dishwasher every other day.
