Ideally, Where Would You Put Your...
washer and dryer?
Mine are in the basement, but if I had the ideal home, there would be a little laundry room on the second floor, so the laundry wouldn't have to go too far.
Where would yours be?My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Oh I would so love it in the main floor area (same level as the bedrooms, and kitchen and bathroom with the only tub/shower)
but if I had a 3 level house, I'd be wanting it up near the bedrooms where the sheets, towels and clothes are generated.
It is in my basement, but in my dreams.....

I have a laundry room in the hall that comes in from the garage. This works great for us since our bedroom is in the same hallway, and it's just dh and I. But.....there are 4 bedrooms upstairs and no laundry shoot! So, if we had kids upstairs that would be a pain. When dd lived at home, she lugged her stuff down and did her own laundry. But for us now...it works well.

Mine is presently in the basement and we have a laundry chute. I'm perfectly happy with the location and wouldn't change it. Besides, I get needed exercise going up and down the steps.

Ours is in the garage which is separate from the house, a real pain especially on cold mornings! We are hoping to add on at some stage in the future, so I hope we might be able to squeeze in a laundry room somewhere inside the house!

my laundry room is in a utility area off my kitchen but there is an addition being built between the house and the garage and my husband is making me a new laundry room so I can have a pantry off the kitchen. I am anxiously awaiting this new laundry room. ( I really want the pantry...lol)

I like where mine is now--- the right side of the pantry has my washer/dryer- shelves for soap/etc. and a bar for hanging things after I've removed them from the dryer (On the rare occasions where we actually USE the dryer). The pantry is just off the kitchen-- near the bathroom and near the back door for when I hang clothes outdoors on the line-- also near the basement steps if I"m hanging laundry in the basement rafters.

Ideally, I'd love it close to the bedrooms. It's funny you mentioned this, well timely for me anyway..lol because I just measured my main floor linen closet and can fit our washer and dryer in it and am hoping to do that sometime in the future. I hate hate hate having or laundry room downstairs.

I always liked those little closets that hold the washer and dryer and all the laundry soap and such above them. Though I suppose they're not very convenient if there's something to fix or if a sock falls in behind the machines.

It would be in my dream mud room on the first floor, complete with sink, folding table, bench and nice big closet for boots & coats etc.

Ours is in the basement as well. But since in this house our master bedroom is on the main floor & the kids bedrooms are on the second floor, I think I'd rather just have a laundry chute
