Default Merilat kitchen cabinets, how do you get them clean?

Does anyone here have the Merilat Kitchen cabinets? If so, how do you get them clean? I have grease and dirt on them, and they need a better cleaning agent. I have tried Murphy;s Oil Soap, Dishsoap, Wood cleaner, etc. Anyone have any other ideas? Would appreciate them. Thanks.

I have Merrilat too. I've heard kerosene mixed with water does wonders on greasy kitchen cupboards. That is what my Grandma used. Mine are ready for a good cleaning, too.

I have merillat cabinets and for the last 12 years I've cleaned them with hot water and ammonia. When we moved in here our house was a repo and the family that had lived here had set the oven on fire before leaving. Everything was covered in soot. Lots of hot water and ammonia later they looked and smelled great. I use an old hunk of bath towel to clean with. When I do the cabinets I remove the items from one cabinet at a time vaccum it out. This gets crumbs, etc. up and keeps my water cleaner. Then I wipe inside and outside and refill cabinet sorting as I go. I try to do cabinets totally twice a year. Especially my tupperware one, cooking pan and under my sink. These areas seem to not only get the dirtiest but also seem to coolect the most unneeded items. The drink glass cabinet used to get the grimiest and I cured that by getting some plastic drink glasses from a yard sale .10 each. These are kept on top of the microwave nest to the refrig. Each family member haas their favorite glass plus a few others for friends. This helps to keep the hand prints down on the cabinet door and the plastic glasses are better for the kids including my large ecomony sized one because they don't break if dropped or taken outside. Also by doing this I was able to do something I've always wanted to do. Have a set of nice (12) drink glasses for adults. For years I served visitors in old jelly jars and mix matched glasses. Then I read about having the plastic ones. Well cleared out all those old glasses and bought 12 nice dark blues off the dollar rack and now when the minister comes, or the teacher stops by I can serve them in something I can be proud of. lol

Are your Merilat cabinets wooden? I was wondering if the amonia does anything for to the color of the wood. Also, do you do anything to put moisture back into the wood?
