I can't keep up!
All of a sudden I just can't keep up with the housework. It used to be the bathroom got wiped up, kitchen cleaned, living room straightened, carpet swept every night. Is it the season change? Anyone else? It can't just be me. It's driving me mad! I found out last week that I don't have enough room to hang a weeks worth of laundry, but guess what I HAVE to do tomorrow?!

Crank up the music and tackle one room at a time! Set the timer and maybe just do 15 minutes here and there. Chug down a nice ice coffee and head forward full steam ahead. (These are all things I say to myself and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't!!!) Best of luck, you'll get over your slump.

You're being too hard on yourself. First of all, no one says all of that has to be done every night. Secondly, like it was said before, if you are in a slump, you'll get back to it.

I hope so. The town yard sale is 6/3 and I sure would like to come up with some stuff to sell. (So I guess that means I'll still be behind?) Thanks fr the encouragement.

Do the FlyLady thing: set a timer for 15 minutes and go go go! She may be tough to deal with on some things, but she as right on the 15 minutes!

For me the kid is out of school and I want to be out of work. But things don't always happen that way.

well im glad to know im not the only one. i was doing so good for months on end on keeping the dishes up and the laundry done and keeping the house picked up. and then for some reason, i started slacking. it'll be 3 days before i do dishes, or a week before i do laundry. and your absolutly right, i dont have a place to hang a weeks worth of laundry so i started using my dryer alot again. argh

Nope. You're not the only one. Seems there's been something in the air lately, or maybe the water, or something. I've talked to a lot of people the past few weeks and we're all saying pretty much the same thing you are. The only thing we've been able to do to combat it is try. Get up in the morning and try, and don't beat yourself up if you've given it your best effort and it still seems like nothing has been accomplished. Eventually the stars will realign (or whatever) and you'll be back in the groove of things.

I agree as well - something happened at the end of April and all of May basically that has made me slack off. Things do get done but Im not as 'on the ball' as I used to be and I feel like Im less efficent.
But now that Ive noticed this, Im trying to get back on track.

I think there are a lot of extra things in spring that happen that just eat the time and energy.
You may be doing battle with a garden that woke up all cranky with weeds or a lawn all crabby with crab grass LOL!
Or some extra spring cleaning or maintence and repairs on stuff.
I usually find myself wondering why my house is messy in spring but it's often the time when stuff went wrong for the inlaws.
I end up every spring for the last 5 years down for a while doing stuff for mil and fil, then we lost mil 3 years back adn it's fil.
I realized it when I looked back.
Plus more mud comes in PERIOD!!! I just cleaned the mud off the laundry room floor before getting in here, using the dark blue wet towels that I'm washing today. That mud was garden dirt that dh tracked in after helping me with the veggie patch (actually did most of the laying of bark mulch).
Then there is switching summer and winter clothes which if you don't have a lot of closet space you have to do a switch in order to have orderly closets.
but at a weather change (spring and fall) there is about a month where you need both sets of clothes.
And they need attention before storage, and mystery stains appear on stuff that was stored all winter.
Mending, spot removal. I've been busy with that, and I cleaned out my drawers, but I have a box full of papers that need filing, and looking at carefully before filing, and something that has to go back to church.
So I'm messier on the surface since doing the drawers last week, even though in reality, a lot of dejunking has gotten done.
My laundry floor is clean, but we won't mention the sticky state of the kitchen floor, because even though I do my trick of using a wet Bounty paper towel (the daily dead dishcloth on it's way to the trash can) to pick up the spots and corners
somehow it's gotten to it's semi annual moment where I need to really really clean it.
Sometime today or tomorrow or this week, I'm going to do my swiffer with the nylon netting, and a bucket of floor stripping ammonia followed by a floor polishing using bounty paper towels to apply floor wax
and I intend to sew some curtains here soon, as dd is moving back in.
Life happens and eats up a lot of time in the spring and fall that throws the casual usual routine for a bit of a loop.
HUGS and it's happening in my home too, and I count myself fairly organized.

Well, I have been the other way... I was really having a hard time keeping up with everything that needed to be done and taking care of my son and so forth...
for the past few weeks, I have really got in there and kept things straight and picked up....I've stayed on the laundry and even made the bed up everyday...
You will get back in the grove any day now...
