Help ! The toys have taken over !!
Hi everyone,
Boy, do I need help....
I have 2 lovely kids, 5 and 2.5. They seem to have more toys than toys r us. Not that I spend mega bucks on toys at all- it's all accumulated, yard sales, gifts and TEDDIES !!! (most of which end up in my bed for parties during the day. )
I know what I should do is the rotation thing....but where to start ? I'm in a muddle....We do have one basket for animals, small cars etc, but I'm dying to know how you super organizers do it !
Any advice ladies, PLEASE ???
Hugs,

I'm tackling this right now. I have four kids and because we do not buy them everything they see, their grandparents do to make up for us being to "mean" to our kids. They have so much stuff that they do not play with ANY of it because they don't know what to go to first! This proves my point that kids do not need stuff. Last night was ds#2's room. If it was broken, missing pieces, or I just didn't want it in the house it was gone. They each have a rubbermaid container for toys and everything must fit inside. Today I started on the girl's room. They have naked dolls laying everywhere! I'm going to make them find each dolls clothes and if they can't them it's gone. So my advice is to get some trash bags and gather to stuff and either just pitch it, take to Goodwill, have a yard sale, something like that. If you go to church possibly donate it to the nursery...or maybe a women and child's shelter.

great ideas
Naked dolls ? Huh...I have been finding limbs from dismembered $ store dolls everywhere. A torso is in my bedroom right now !!!!
I like the idea of the Rubbermaid limit. Hmmmm. If I could just dig out enough to begin...
Cheers,
Pam

Doesn't Jeff Foxworthy do a naked Barbie Doll things? lol
We also do the rubbermaid container thing. When it starts to over flow I box up the extras that can be reused and take them to a local seniors group that rehabs toys for Christmas gifts for less fortunate kids. Does 2 things fills a need for the seniors and fills up someones eles Christmas pile. Check with your local charity groups for seniors or cons that are doing this good work.
How to pare down the pile. Look to see what kids are playing with most put that in the bottom of the rubbermaid tub. Work til you've got the tub full with unbroken stuff. Warning!!! If your ds or dd has a ragged old what ever that goes everywhere put it in the tub not the go away box. This can be a disater in the making. Then gather up the "go away stuff." Items from under the bed the back of the closet and all the other spots. Put this box or bag away for a week or two and see if something special is inside or if items go un missed. If they go unmissed send them away. If something needs to be taken out you've still got it and just trade out another item that not so special.
Hope this helps.
