Wink Can you have too much trash?

With the flinging & decluttering rampage that I've been on lately, I've accumulated a pile of trash bags and broken down boxes that will go out in this week's trash/recycling collection. My DH actually told me that it's embarrassing to put that much trash out. I guess I'll put it out after dark- it gets picked up around 6:30am on Thursday morning. Better going out on the curb than staying in our house, I say!

Ya know what? I did some decluttering not too long ago out of our garage, and I was really surprised at what the trash man picked up, I thought for sure I was going to have to call bulk trash, but I didn't. I say it's not embarrassing, what's embarrassing is having that much trash INSIDE your home! Good for you for decluttering!

I always have more recycling than trash...at least two boxes worth. Our trash can is the big dumpster one from the trash company, we could go two or three weeks without having it dumped, but it gets smelly.

Don't be embarassed! Maybe you'll inspire the neighbors to do some decluttering of their own!!!

I'd feel more embarassed about it IN my house lol. I am on a decluttering rampage. And I have been freecycling like a mad woman. People must be wondering what's going on in my house, people comming by picking stuff up all day long, lol.

I have to admit that I do get a little embarrassed by the amount of trash I set out every week. I also put mine out after dark!!

I went on a rampage one time and had 34 bags of trash out by the road. I was so embarrassed, I did it under the cloak of darkness. . .lol. The stack was nearly as tall as I am!!! lol

I agree that it's better going to the garbage, and not sitting in your house.

I sometimes am embarrassed by the amount of stuff coming out of our house. Last time I moved I had so much out there.

Not embarrassing at all. But you do have to watch that they pick it all up. Our garbage company has a 5 bag a week limit except for one month in the spring and one month in the fall they'll pick up everything. I was irritated and couldn't understand why they would limit my garbage, but they said that they do it to prevent people in neighborhoods from sharing garbage service, i.e., me and my two neighbors splitting the bill and just dumping it all at my house. They said they don't limit it in boroughs and towns that have mandatory garbage contracts. Here it is optional.

I've done that, too! I decided to throw out a bunch of things I didn't want and I filled up 1/3 of the front of the yard with boxes and bags of stuff.I did that twice. One time a neighbor cam by and asked if I was moving!
