Default Swiffer Dusters Can Be Washed!

I received my sample Swiffer Duster in the mail and my initial reaction was, what a piece of crap! It looked so flimsy. I had trouble putting it together and it kept coming apart. I finally got it working properly (I wasn't putting it together properly). Once I got the hang of it and started using it properly, I was impressed. I generally use a feather duster but this was even easier to use as it was smaller and more flexible. It was able to get in small nooks and crannies more easier. But when I was through, it was so dirty that I tossed it into the trash.

On another board, I read the replacement dusters cost about $1.00 each but that they can be washed and reused. I didn't see how this could work because they seemed so flimsy, but I figured I would give it a try. I took the Swiffer out of the trash and put it in the laundry with my dark clothes, and it worked! It came out perfect! I've washed it several times more and its still going strong! I also read that you can put an old sock on the duster to use.

That is really good news! Makes it much more worthwhile to purchase. Thanks for sharing the tip, Staceyy!

Thanks for the tip! I tried my free sample and liked it but I wasn't thinking it was something I would use often, because of the expense. Now I'll definitely try washing before throwing mine away.

Thanks for the awesome tip! I just got mine last week, and haven't used it yet. I'm glad to know I can get more milage out of it than just one use.

That's great to know. I just tried mine for the first time yesterday. I was also thinking....what a piece of crap! But I'll have to say... I was impressed. It held up well and I was able to get into a lot of hard to reach places.

I have been really happy w/ my swiffer products. I have been using then for several years. And hey, coupons are in abundance when you do have to replace them.

Did you also put them in the dryer or air dry them?

No, I didn't put it in the dryer because surprisingly it felt almost dry when I took it out of the washer. In about an hour it dried lying on top of the counter.
