Question Do you save school papers?

Does anyone save every school paper your children bring home?? I used to but this year he is in 2nd grade and brings home about 5 a day. I don't have room to save it all!!

A tip I once read was to save them all each quarter and at the end of the quarter sit down with your child and have them pick out 2-3 papers that they would like to keep and pitch the rest. I just don't have the heart to throw them all away!

I have papers that my mother saved when I was in school and I enjoy looking back at them from time to time. So I will save some for my children as well.

I homeschool but still I save papers. I save the tests they do, some of their art work (not much) and if they write a cute story I save it.

It does add up though if your not careful.

yes we save them. My mother didn't and i really miss that. Anyway if they are really good they go on the fridge, until no more fit then we have to put them away in a box. i wonder sometimes if they are even going to care. (Mainly doing it with the youngest now. my sophomore has some from k

I have totes for each child. I save what I think is interesting or just plain wonderful!!! I have one in high school, so I can tell you those totes fill up with awards, ribbons, papers, badges. They have all sorts of school momentos in them. I want them to have them when they have children so they can share their life with them.

My DD just started kindergarten and I am a BIG saver! I am going to get a box or something to keep all her papers in.

I still have papers my grown children did in Kindergarten and after. They are so much fun to look back on. I am now saving papers that my granddaughters bring home from school. I don't save everything but, I keep some of the special papers.

Between His, mine & ours... We have 5 kids, they range in age from 30 to 6, we saved papers from the older ones, we saved baby things too..... This is what we did. Save the best ones and put them in a book. On the day your first Grandchild starts school give their family the book, it will bring back many memories and help your kids in sharing the process of going to school. The Grandkids will love seeing what's ahead for them and your kids will appreciate the memories.... and the baby stuff, save favorite outfits and toys, give them as your gift at their baby showers, it's a frugal gift but one that will be very precious and remembered always....

I tend to save most of them for the whole school year and then in the summer months sort them out and save one box full. The sorting is hard though because I want to save so much and my DD wants to save it all. I have saved one box per year for k - 3. I have already started saving the 4th grade stuff. I usually save some art work and the stories she writes as well as some test and handwriting samples.

When I homeschooled, I saved everything in case I needed to prove we were really schooling. My oldest is 16 and legally does not have to attend, so I'll be throwing a lot of papers out now. When they were in school in the younger grades, I saved everything. I did go through them and kept only the special art work or projects. The everyday math and writing stuff I threw out.

Everything is saved in this house. Even paper airplanes and doodles...it's a bit much but if they want to save it that's not my say. My aunt is such a pack-rat! It's disgusting!

I agree with keeping them for a quarter and then going through it saving only a few important papers/projects. It gets to be too much stuff especially when you have a tiny house!

    Question School papers!

With Eleni being in kindergarten I don't want to throw away any of her papers that she brings home. (And there are alot) How should I organize them? Right now I have them in my closet on a shelf, in a stack. Any ideas?

I put mine in one of those sterlite containers on wheels. Three drawer type. I toss some, but some are so nice that I just can't part with them. I plan on framing some for the playroom.

Thanks. I put a bin in my closet for all of the papers, I will go thru them later, and keep some out. She has been making really cute books and pictures.

I've heard of people scanning them and reducing them in size, then tossing the originals. I think they even made really cute magnets out of them. We haven't done this yet. I save Isabel's papers and certificates (from church/home as she isn't in school yet) in an expanding file. I save my favorites and let her choose some favorites and we toss the rest.

You can use some of them to make cute placemats as gifts for grand parents. Just encase them in that plastic clear contact paper stuff and cut to size. Makes a nice little gift for her to give for the holidays
