Default Can you clean bamboo flooring with vinegar?

    Murphy's Oil Coupons

I'm sick of using 2 different things to clean my floors with. I use vinegar on the bathrooms and kitchen, which is linoleum and ceramic tile, but Murphy's Oil Soap on my living room and hallway, which is bamboo. Can you use the vinegar on the bamboo also? I am also wanting to use it as a disinfectant property, since I have new puppies and they are pretty good about going on the puppy pads but have the occasional accident. I haven't mopped my floor in here since they were born, because I didn't want the oil soap hurting them, and now it really needs something. Is it possible to use vinegar, since it's the safest floor cleaner I can think of for them and it kills bacteria?

Yes. You can start it by sweeping the room that you are going to be cleaning. Make sure all of the dirt and dust is picked up by your broom and dustpan. Once your floor is clean of dust and debris fill up your water bucket with 1 gallon of warm water and the prescribed amount of wood safe floor cleaner. When using your mop be sure to squeeze out the mop thoroughly before cleaning the floor. Gently mop your floor using a back and forth motion. Make sure to cover the entire floor. For best results repeat once a week.

My hard wood floor company said to only use vinegar and water and to only damp mop..I have used it for 6 years now and my floor look new still and I have dogs too...and they aren't real good at wipeing there feet...lol.

This is my main way of comming into my home so it gets a lot of traffic.

We have installed a lot of bamboo since I replied to this thread in 07. But yes, vinegar and water is great. Wring out your mop well in between rinsing.

Before, I thought hat hard wood flooring is better than bamboo flooring but as I read some thread regarding this bamboo flooring I’ve found out that bamboo flooring is durable than hardwood flooring, such as oak or red maple, and it resists moisture. It’s the alternative for hardwood floor. Caring for your bamboo is not difficult, but should be done routinely to ensure the life of your floor. To keep bamboo free of dirt and dust, use a broom, dry mop or a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. When cleaning, avoid- excessive water – use a slightly dampened mop, and never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads like steel wool on your bamboo, any non- abrasive hardwood cleaner is suitable for your bamboo floors. When deep cleaning, add a very small amount of white vinegar to water and dampen your mop. You can then mop over the floor but do not leave it wet. Clean your mop often to remove grime.

    .. and I Googled it..
