i hope this is where i can post this..i was relining my drawers in the kitchen today and found mouse poop..UGH !@@#$#@!
I am getting ready to totally freak out..is it true there are smell they hate like peppermint..i'm not sure exactly where they are coming from hubby will have to figure that out..i just hate traps because you can hear them and i think i would go into hysterics if one was poisoned and i found it..UUGGHHH..I was hoping to drive them away..(IS that possible) please before i have a hissy fit help...thanks much

I have always heard that you can put unwrapped sticks on spearmint gum in the drawers and they will stay out. I have never tried it though, but I'm like you, traps and poison aren't my thing so I would give it a try. Good Luck!!!

well i have heard and this does work if you find where they are coming in put down some concrete (dry) and they come and eat it then go look for water it mixes in their stomaches and dries you know the rest. GOOD LUCK ANYWAY.

You can't just keep them out of drawers, you have to trap or kill them. They breed very fast and soon will overrun your home. If this happens, all the gum in the world won't stop mice that are hungry and competing for recourses.... They will chew the wood on the house, the wiring in the walls, and spread disease !! I am not trying to scare you but having mice can be dangerous to your home and family.... Buy traps however awful you think it is and bait them with just a little peanut butter..... Seal all the cracks around your home and under doors, put clothwire over any exposed drains around the house or basement.... Do all that you can to keep them out and trap the ones you have sealed inside.... Go outside and think like a mouse, is there a spot where they could be getting in ??? SEAL IT !!! Use coarse steel wool or expansion foam. Mice can & will do tremendous damage..........

I agree with Lori, mice are nasty and can spread disease like the Hanta virus.

I would trap them. Peanut butter works great for bait. Good luck!

Don't forget mice can get through a hole only 1/4 of an inch big! We use glue boards, not the most humane ways, but they work. We had one come down our ceiling fan last December (in our bedroom of all places) It sat on the blades looking at us, so DH got a big trash bag (he was in his underwear ) and gave me instructions to knock the mouse off the fan into the trash bag. Well I gave it a good swat, and it flew right at DH! Boy was he mad at me! We named the little bugger Bin Laden, as it was a good week before we were able to catch him.

too funny danielle. yes please remember that they are tiny and can fit into small spaces, where you don't think anything can fit. Argh. if worse comes to worse there is always the cat option. I have 9 (One just had 6 babies) no not the town cat lady yet. but they do a great job and what better mouse catcher. (though mine would problably ask the mice if they wanted coffee and cake before pooping in the cupboards. good luck.

You are lucky Heaven, I have never seen a house cat that is a good mouser, (they are usually just too kept to earn a living).... Yours is a find..... Ferrets work better for mousing but can present their own problems... I would say just try the traps and don't delay in starting as they will breed in a very short time.... You need to identify the place where they get into the house, VERY IMPORTANT !!! As the others have said they fit into very tiny spaces.... Get a garden sprayer and put some water and Tabasco sauce, or soak dried chilies in it overnight, use this spray around the foundation of the house..... In the spots where they have entered, they will scent mark it for other mice to find.... The chilies will help eliminate some of those scents and hopefully drive them from the foundation area.......

My cat brings in mice all the time. So far he has brought us several mice (a week!), tons of birds, a rabbit, and his latest finds are (no joke) a hamster about a week ago and a lizard a couple days ago. He is just a little orange tabby about a year old. When we took the rabbit to the wildlife place to save it's life they said "Your CAT caught this?!?!" We we tried to keep him away from all that he went out into the yard and pounced on a yellowjacket! He must be bored.

About the mice...you are going to have to trap them. They will find somewhere else to go if you don't.

I make treats for the mice!
I call them peanut butter truffels.
Take 1 teaspon mouse bait (the loose pellet kind)
cover with 1 tablespoon peanut butter. Roll in more mouse bait.
Leave out for your find furry little friends as a goodbye present.
Once they eat it they will scurry outside looking for water - where they will die from the expanding action of the poison and the poison itself.
