Cooler Cleaning Question
We have this big cooler that we use almost every Saturday for something. Well two weeks ago I guess something spilled in it and then DS#1 didn't dump it. I went to fill it this Saturday and all I can say is EEWWWW!!! I've used soap, comet, bleach, and a vinegar/baking soda mix on it already. It doesn't smell. it actually didn't really smell much to begin with. I can't seem to get the pink spots where I guess mold had started to grow off the inside of the top though. Anyone got any ideas????

Have you tried leaving it out in the direct sunlight? That often times works where cleaners do not.

Sunshine! Just like YankeeMom says.
For added punch you might take a wet rag with bleach on it and lay it on the spot then set it in the sun.

Fill a tray or bowl with charcol bricks and put them inside. Change them for fresh every 24 hours or so (saving to old ones to use with the grill) They will suck the smell right out of it.

Sunshine will kill the mold spores, if they have embedded themselves into the plastic, but actually, it's probably never going to come out. Some bacteria and molds produce a dye that never comes out. It's not toxic, just ugly.

I agree with yankeemom. Good old sunshine works wonders. It may take a few sunny days.

You want to make sure the mold is killed, and then learn to ignore the stain. Sunshine and bleach for a few hours should do the trick.

Trying the sun and bleach. Been a couple of days and the stains still there but it does seem to be lightening. I'll give it a couple more days. Thanks ladies!!

Seems like I read somewhere that lemon juice and sunshine will 'bleach' clothing. Maybe a squeeze of lemon juice will help. I dunno.
