We had lots & lots of rain earlier this summer... and since then they are out of control @ my house too!

my 2 year old is getting pretty good at catching them... and yes he knows to wash his hands after he squishes them! LOL!

Not sure where you are in PA, but here in Delaware they are bad this year also. We purchased a bag thing with some stuff in it that attracts them... we add water to a fill line and hang it by our trash cans. It works like a charm and our flies are reduced to almost nothing. I can't remember the name of the thing, we get them at the local horse tack shop. It's stinky if you get really close to it (it's the 'man's job' around here to change it haha) but you can't smell it just by walking past.

We've been through 2 of them this season, and they cost $5.00 each.

Okay... I got off my lazy butt and walked out there to see what the thing is called: it's a Farnam Fly Relief Disposable Fly Trap. Here's what it looks like:

We used to have German Shepherds who were often outside and were plagued by flies. We tried several things before we found this that actually seems to work.

My problem with flies is that the cat will throw up in some obscure place where I can't see it, the flies breed in that, and I wake up one day to a houseful!

My fil uses one of those too. Oooh boy, does it stink! But, it's outside, so it doesn't make a difference unless you stand right next to it. And it really did help with the flies!

They've been bad this year. Keep that fly swatter handy. Colder weather is on the way.

All you need is a zipper bag filled 3/4 with plain water and hang it by your door or anywhere else you want to repel the flies from. For some reason they are afraid of the bag. It doesn't smell as long as you change the water once and awhile.

We have em really terrible too. I'm gonna try the bag w/water and penny in it to see if it helps.

Our pom catches flies and eats them, gross. It is funny to watch. You wouldn't think a dog could be that quick.
