Default Slobs, Clean freaks and other such beasties

My grandmother once had a nervous breakdown because she couldn't get all the dust off the floor. She lived in the country, and kept her windows and doors open in the summer. She had issues, but we won't go there. She was wonderful woman otherwise. My sister is a lot like her, but getting better. She once screamed at my mother because there were fingerprints on her doorframes. We had quite a row about that.

Well, as you have gathered from my posts, I'm a slob. I'm certifiable. It will take me a whole day to clean my front three rooms today. No bother, I do it once a week! Then by the next week, it's like that again. Of course, there are health and time issues I use as an excuse, but the truth is, I'm just lazy. I'd rather be here on the computer, or out in the yard, or watching a movie...anything other than cleaning.

Which are you, clean freak, slob, or a normal somewhere inbetween person? If you are on one or the other extreme, how do you see it affecting your life and your family? My sister's kids are both neurotic from having to be so clean all their lives. But then, both of them are slobs now too.

I am a slob who likes things clean - if that makes any sense. I tend to drop things all over the place, and generally operate in a slobbish manner. But I am happier when the house is clean, and when I clean it I clean it well.

I try to do a certain task each day to keep things from getting out of control, and I also keep my 'stuff' to a minimum so there is less to get messy. When I'm doing well, I clean the kitchen and livingroom every evening, but then I'll get lazy and let it go for days.

Right now is one of those times when I've let things slide. I'm on the computer avoiding it.

I'm another slob who likes things clean. I am a very messy person, although I have gotten much better over the past few years. I don't want to say that I blame it on my grandparents (b/c they are awesome), but I do wish they would've made me do more around the house. DBF and I both work full-time, so it gets pretty messy around here during the week. We pick a day that we are both off once a week to do a major clean.

The weird thing is that I get depressed/anxious when my apartment is dirty. Strange to hear coming from a "slob", huh? Also, my job is doing every day household chores/cleaning for a mentally disabled adult, so needless to say I am not usually in a rush to start cleaning when I am home!

I get depressed sometimes about the mess too, but that just makes me lazier. I've made all sorts of resolutions to spend at least an hour a night cleaning, but I just don't stick to it. I have no self-discipline at home, whereas at work I'm the most disciplined person ever.

This makes perfect sense to me. I am very messy becuase I would rather spend my free time doing crafts. But when my house is a mess my entire personality changes. I get crabby and depressed. My husband alwasy notices my mood changes and then he will start cleaning up.

I'm a certifiable clean freak! I don't believe it affects my family in a negative way.

I work FT and just keep the house picked up during the week and Saturday mornings I get up early to do the cleaning or I do it in the evening. It never gets in the way of spending time with my family.

I just really need to have my house clean and organized....I despise clutter.

i fall in the middle some where..i think..

i clean pickup every afternoon, im not usually a bed maker, i wiped down the bathroom toliet and sink 3 to 4 times a week, clean the kitchen every day..but then i cook dinner and it gets messy again..i wipe down the door jams and molding once a week..and moping..hmm i wont say how often i DONT do it..lol

i like everything clean and in its place (once i establish a place for it) and i do get frsutrated to wake up the next morning and have to start all over again. my husband doesnt know where the trash goes or the dirty dishes..and my son cant help but bring out all his toys and draw on things and spill cookies or milk or anything anywhere..

I am almost the same. I'm not a neat freak, but I'm not a very messy person either. But the mess gets to me. I can't sit down & relax unless the living room is picked up. I can't cook dinner or do anything in the kitchen unless it's already cleaned up. The part that puts me in a bad mood is 90% of the time it's not even my messes I'm cleaning up

I'm pretty much like Heather. I like to have everything in it's place or I'm just not comfortable. I can't fully relax. I've been trying to lighten up, and to some extent I have. I think alot of it comes down to control issues.

I'm a neat freak, but I've had to learn to relax having three kids! LOL!
And, I'm horrible with paper . . . can never seem to get rid of it fast enough, because I like to read everything, so my paper piles drive me crazy!

I think I am in the middle... BUT I do have to say that my house is never messy so to speak just a bit dis-organized at times... if it becomes too bad in my reality I just clean it up lickty split.

I dont like however how DH throws his socks on the floor when there is a hamper right next to where he threw them so I yell at him, lol

DD on the other hand well shes messy and always has been, I think she took those genes from her father

Speaking of cleaning and stuff she is going to have to clean her room today, so I am thinking the Salvation Army will be getting a big bag full of stuff tomorrow.
