Default Nothing Like 30 People Coming Over...

...to get you to get the lead out and finally finish the decluttering around here!

I'm hosting Thanksgiving for the in-laws this year, along with my parents, and the grand total (including the 5 of us) is 30 people for the holiday. So, in order to make sure we have space for everyone, I'm doing some DEEP decluttering. For those of you who know me, I'm a decluttering fiend to begin with, but now I'm going into all the nooks and crannies and cupboards and corners and drawers and shelves, etc and tossing EVERYTHING!

The kids freecycled a huge bag of stuffed animals, and I've thrown away 7 grocery bags of trash in the past 3 days. (So you don't think I have trash laying around my house, it was basically stuff that was in cupboards, etc. that we were saving for a rainy day...which has been sitting around for years)

Anyway, I'm excited to have people here for the holiday, and even more excited to do a final toss out before the winter rolls in!

Wow, you are a brave hostess. I can't fathom cooking for that many, and I can cook pretty well. I'm still content to go to mil's for Thanksgiving and relax there. Good luck! Oh, and congrats on all the decluttering

I agree, you are very brave... I would be poopin in my pants, lol... I dont like big get togethers, I like it when it's just me, DH and my kids. Plus we couldnt afford to feed 30 people.

I used to deliberately plan big get-togethers (usually Sunday School groups) so I would be forced to clean up.

    It was very motivating

    I've missed you, too!

I had 25 people here the Christmas before last. It was a blast... but you're right about the motivation to clean! I cleaned every room because our house was pretty new and most people (aunts, uncles, cousins) wanted tours. Maybe I need to have another big party so I'll get motivated again, LOL!

I hope you're not cooking everything-- that would be a lot of food! I did the main dish and everyone brought sides.

    Good luck!

Whew! You've got me beat, I usually have as many as 24-25, (depending on which kids go with their moms or dads in the divorced families). These are my IL's too.

But with my two adult sons are going to be gone this year, 2000 miles away, and another SIL's son is in the Navy now, we are down to about 20 this year.
