    Default Dryer Balls?

Does anyone here use dryer balls in place of fabric softener or dryer sheets? I'm wondering if they work. I like the smell of dryer sheets, but I imagine it's better on the clothes to use less chemicals if possible. And of course... the savings!

My parents have them and love them. I didn't know what they were for. I thought they were to speed up the drying time. My guess is my mother bought them from QVC.

I love mine!!!!!! Very easy to use, you can use the homemade version as well as the commercial brands--I highly recommend them......

I use Natura brand reusable dryer sheets, on top of vinegar as my liquid fabric softener. I've considered the dryer balls, but worried that they might wear the fabric quickly with all the nubbiness....? Has anyone noticed this, or am I crazy? At any rate, I try not to use my dryer much anymore, but I might get the balls at least for the towel loads to dry faster.

I don't know if they wear down the fabrics but my mother is very picky about what she uses . She works in a law office so she buys clothes that are expensive but she will wear for years. I think if she had a problem with the balls wearing down the fabric she would stop using them.
