Angry I am done with it...

After washing 26 glasses and 4 coffee cups... I am DONE with washing soooooo many.. I have 4 kids, and only one coffee drinker... I did not include the glass I use because I am STILL using it....

A few years back I found four different glasses the McDonalds had (with Mickey Mouse celebrating the year 2000)... So starting tomorrow those are the ONLY glasses they are allowed to drink out of.. If they want a larger glass, I must see the other one first... These will be the ones they use at dinner as well. Then the four will go into the dishwasher after dinner and be ready for the next day.. My DH usually uses the same coffee cup all day long, and usually the entire time he is home on his weekends.. I think the kids were using them...

I am not sure how this happens when two of them are in school until 2:15, and my daughter is normally not home until 5:30.. Well they will be in for a shock tomorrow... Little do they know...

How many glasses/bowls/etc. are "normal" for you? I always have way too many dishes dirty for just one day... I think..LOLOL

I threw out and gave away all but 6 glasses, 6 plastic cups and 6 coffee cups. DH has two he swaps out daily for coffee to go. and I have a tea to go cup too. so in all we have 21 total drink out of cups. I allow one drinking glass or plastic cup and one coffee (kids do cocoa or tea) a day. that's it.

at most i have two drinking vessels per person per day.

5 ppl, that's ten drinking vessels

We had a family of 6. What my Mom did was buy 4 plastic cups (1 for each kid) in different colors and wrote our names on them in permanent marker. We were to use only those and rinse them out when we were done. The only problem with it was when my lazy brother kept using MY clean cup and left it dirty.

We have water bottles that live in the fridge. They are responsible for keeping them filled. They drink out of those during the day. At meals, they get a plastic glass if they want a drink.

We have tons and tons of cups around here as well. In the winter, add in mugs for hot chocolate, and believe me, I feel your pain!

I've been doing the "re-use your cup" system and it's been working pretty nicely. Still, with all the dishes from breakfast and dinner, I run the dishwasher every night. (Again, not incredibly frugal, but it's a time saver for me which is worth it.)

I too feel your pain. I don't have a dishwasher so someone has to wash them all. I had some garage sale colored dot stickers laying around. Each kid has a color. I 'dot' the cup they drank from and they use it all day. We use eight cups at each meal and that will go up when the baby starts using one so I needed to do something since I can't find a dishrack big enough anyway.

I'm still training my younger two to leave their cups on the counter & reuse them. Especially since they only drink water all day. The weekends are the worst.

Now if only I could get them to stop taking dishes up to their room. I cleaned the boys' rooms this past weekend & found 4 cups and 7 bowls. Thankfully all they take up there is water & crackers but still! The weekend before my 15yo cleaned her room and found I don't know how many bowls, 3 coffee cups and SEVEN SPOONS!!

One of the few rules we have in this house is no eating in the bedrooms. I don't know when I lost control

I feel for you. i got the kids most time leaving the same glasses beside the water cooler in the setting room downstairs . They leave it there for fill ups so but forget to bring it up sometimes. Otherwise they use the same glass.

I have this problem but its self created. I hate to see a glass sitting on the counter so I pick them up an toss them in the washer. Along comes the owner of the glass, they want a drink and have to get a new glass.LOL

Well I stopped buying juice boxes, and plastic cups. So now every day each daycare kid gets one cup to last the whole day. I rinse out after each meal/snack. So 5 a day there. My kids get one...so 2 more. And I get one coffee cup, that gets rinsed for my days water. Which is 6 times of refilling. So we go through 8 cups a day. Better than 8 plastic cups that get tossed, or 8 juice boxes!

I use a stein from the Renfest or my big travel mug. They work for my hot coffee in the morning and water the rest of the day. DH gets a new glass everytime he wants a drink of water. He'll fill a 16 oz tumbler and drink 4 sips and walk away. grrrrrrrrr. He will only use one coffee mug a day though and it is usually a big one. My biggest peeve is he never takes the glasses back to the kitchen. I'll find 3 glasses and 2 mugs at his computer, and 2 glasses in by the tv. It is as if the things turn invisilble once empty.
