Default Hand me down white couch....

We just received a couch and loveseat from some friends but it is off white and a bit stained up. I used my Bissell floor cleaner to clean it up with Oxiclean and water, but I still have some stains on it. Any suggestions on how to get this out?

We have a hand-me-down off white and blue plaid couch. The stains from sweat or hair on the couch head rest area has never come out. We've used rug/upholstry cleaner, stain remover, even bleach. I now put a throw blanket over the back of the couch to hide these stains. A throw blanket may work for you too depending on where the stains are.

Try a paste of baking soda and clean it off with some hyorgen proxide. Leave the paste on for at least 15 minutes to help suck out the stain. If you notice the powder changing color you know its working and may need to repeat the process. The fizzing of the proxide will also help lift out the tain. Use an old wash cloth to blot clean.
Then spray the cushions and arm rests with a stain protection product. I use the stuff you put on tents to make water bead up. Since spills are my biggest problem.

If it's just sweat stains they say use regular hair shampoo on ring around the colar I don't see why it wouldn't work on the sofa. Would you know what the stains might be from such as food/blood/dirt?

I would suggest getting the pet stain pretreat spray-it is pretty strong. Spray and let soak for as long as it says and rewash it. That should get most of any kind of stain that might be on it,rem though...the longer a stain has set the harder it is to get out. It may take a few tries...and try the pet shampoo they have. WalMarts brand works just like Bissell...a friend told me about them we have never had any issues...though we do use Bissels pet stain pretreater(it's a blue bottle)/ I say pet cause these help break some pretty strong protein bonds which are mostly what the stains are. ....a mix of animal and plant proteins bonded to the fabric fibers.
