I tried it a few times and couldn't stick with it or customize it to work for me.

I did see some ideas on that website that I do use. I guess I don't like someone telling me how to do something

I've been a fledgling flybaby for awhile now. I don't follow her plan to a "T", but have tweaked several of her hints to my particular schedule. I ,too, prefer to still use my SHE cards for most of my housecleaning stuff.

~ I live by the 15 minute rule
~ have built my own control-type journal. Mostly to house phone numbers, schedules and such.
~ integrated her flyzones with my SHE cards.
~ wearing my shoes has helped me not fall back into slug mode
~ haven't quite gotten the clean sink part down.... I work night shifts and I do wash the dishes when I get home in the mornings...

I've never been a fly lady fan. I keep a clean house. Don;t collect "stuff" to clutter my home. I stay up on laundry. I know what we are having for dinner days in advance.........etc.
I don't "do" flylady, I just clean. Period.

You CAN post your progress and mention her ideas that work for you. That copyright notice came up a while back after there were other websites (I've seen two myself) where people were literally copying and pasting ALL of her stuff. It was pathetic that people would just copy all her stuff like that, IMHO. But I don't think that means you can't mention her ideas, as long as you're not promoting them as your own.

Thank you Amy. I was a little confused about it because we all share information from books and websites like Dave Ramsey's and there didn't seem to be any copy write issues with these.

I'm glad you gave me some background on this. I had no idea people where copying pages from her site and posting them.

I follow her system a bit. I do a morning, afternoon and evening routine.
But I think part of my problem with her system is that all the emails focus on buying a product. Like if anyone talks about shining her sink and how that makes her feel, they have to mention that they sell towels. It gets really old.
But I do like the basic idea behind it. And I have the calendar and timer which I love. The duster I'm actually not that fond of... I think I like to see the "pledge shine" on my stuff

But you really have to make it work for you. Don't just do it exactly like she does if it's not working for you. Just take the basic principles and work them for you.

will you come live with me LOL

i use flylady and we dont have a clutter problem (i love to purge ) i just hate cleaning and find her system helps me focus and get into a rhythm so i get everything done without the ok its our day off lets clean all day felling i used to have. i have always wished i was one who could just clean because i need to

i dont follow ever word but i like the underlying principles and the control journal has helped me tremendously, i am currently revamping it so my DH will be able to follow my notes

Maybe you are trying to do too much at once. I did the first time I tried her system a couple of years ago. I tried to do all my routines at once and got burned out. I've been back on her system for over a month and started to do the same thing again. I just had to slow down and find routines that work for me. I still am not doing her zone cleaning. I do declutter in that area then find one thing that I feel needs cleaned and work on that.

I do my morning routine faithfully and have Mondays (that's going to have to change now that I'm going back to work full time) set aside for heavy cleaning like scrubbing the floors. Having only one day a week for paperwork is not enough for us. I have to have a little time each day for this or it gets out of control.

I have had to change many of her ideas to fit my schedule and home. I'm still considering going back and using a card system instead of the binder. I just don't need a whole page each for the routines and schedules.

I tried Flylady a few years ago, but it felt like my mother was always nagging me to clean my room!

Yeah...I don't do well with authority or people telling me what to do. So, the bossy little e-mails did not sit well with me.

However, I do know quite a few people who use her system with success. They've taken what she teaches and made it their own to fit their personal lives.

I've been doing it for almost 2 months now and LOVE it! Sorry you guys are having such a hard time. I don't get the emails. I just check her website and it has the sneak peek for the week posted there. My routines as they are right now take me 1.5 hours total. Probably half of that is stuff I have to do anyway like getting ready for work. Here's what they are:

MORNING ROUTINE (1 hour from alarm to leave)
    • make bed
    • eat breakfast, make and pack lunch
    • clean up after cat and feed
    • shower, brush, eye cream, facial moisturizer
    • get dressed to lace up shoes

    AFTERNOON ROUTINE (15 minutes)
    • daily mission

    EVENING ROUTINE (15 minutes)
    • set up coffee pot and turn on timer
    • keep sink shining
    • brush, floss, wash face, eye cream, night cream, body moisturizer
    • swish and swipe
