Closet Organizers
I saw in the "Week 3 - Home Organization Contest" that someone wanted to redo her closet "if she had the money". I had the same reservations after looking at the stuff Lowes & Home Depot had to do the job (not to mention California Closets and the like). A 5 Drawer Basket Set at Lowes is nearly $75 and that doesn't include casters or a wood top. I priced my closet out at California Closets or one of the competitors and it was nearly $500! No thanks.
If you have an Ikea nearby their Antonius line is a very frugal way to organize a closet.

I redid my closet for $135 in materials (but not including paint and attaching hardware like screws and wall anchors) plus another $20 for the small shelving unit in the lower left. I pretty much have all my clothes in there now (summer and winter) although some of my summer T-shirts are in the laundry room. No sense bothering with them until it's time. In addition my entire dresser is in there too in the wire drawer organizer in the middle. No need for a dresser in my room which also helps to keep things spartan. An added plus is that you can pull the wire drawers out and put them on the bed then sort right from the laundry basket into the drawers.

2 Years later I'm still managing to keep it organized.

About the only thing I would do different would be to not bother with the cloth drawers they recommend for the lower drawers to minimize dust collection. They just don't slide in and out as good as the wire drawers do, they tend to bind a bit.
Hope this helps.

Looks like you did a good job! We have a closet organizer in our closet, but our closet isn't as neat as yours
! Do you have any hints on how I can get my hubby to part with some of his clothes? He has two closet rods about 4' long stuffed full and me, I have one a measly 2' long...I have no idea how tht happened.

Thanks everyone,
I have a tendency to place clean clothes in from the right and slide everything over to the left. If I notice a shirt that has been on the left for a long time I move it to a spare closet. If I still haven't touched it after a year I add it to the donation pile.
