    Default Sick of Clutter!!!

I had a garage sale this weekend. During the preparation I realized how un-frugal I have been in my life. Why in the world did I ever think that I needed all the things I just sold??? It actually made me sick to think of all the money that was wasted on "stuff". We made over $1500.00 but I could have saved so much had I not purchased those things in the first place! I wish I had asked myself those three little questions.....Do I need it? Will I use it? Would something that I have now work just as well? I could have saved myself probably 5 times that much. YIKES!!!!! (But the attic is cleaned out at least!)

I've been there done that. Still do it occasionally. Buy it, bring it home and later think.... why did I do that. At least you did well with your garage sale and you got your attic cleaned out. Good for you!

Doesn't that realization make you feel just horrible. I try
not to beat myself up when I'm decluttering and think of
how much I've paid for some piece of crap that I have
never used and occasionally still found the tag on.

I have to ask myself those questions whenever I make a
purchase now and I still slip up. End up taking it back.

Sounds like you did great on your sale. It does hurt to think back on how much you really spent on un needed things. Will make you think in future.

I am doing this in the summer, but for now I am craigslisting alot of stuff, made $185 last week. Hoping to sell most of it so rummage sale not so much stuff to set up!

OMG $1500 is alot to make at a yard sale but yes you would have saved alot more but just think, now you know what to actually ask yourself before making a purchase, believe me it works, I do it all the time!

Super-Fantastic job on your garage sale. What will you do with the money? It just feels great to get rid of all that clutter, like a huge weight has been lifted.

It's easy to look back and beat ourselves up. The real challenge is making those changes in the future. Sounds like you've finally got the right mindset to start making some changes. Best of luck to you!

Great job in the realization that these "things" could be let go. I still have issues with the "but I might need it again" thinking. But I am getting better.

And all I can say to the $1500 is WOW!!!!!
