Clean the Microwave - Mini Challenge
I just went to heat up my afternoon cup of joe and was shocked at the state of my microwave.
So, my mini-challenge to you is get those microwaves cleaned. My method is vinegar and water in a glass bowl for 5ish minutes. The steam loosens the crud and it wipes away clean. It also helps deodorize!

I usually wet a dishcloth in a mixture of water and lemon juice then nuke that for 2 minutes on high. This works with a wet/damp sponge as well. Once its done nuking and cool enough for you to handle, use the cloth or sponge to wipe the gunk off the inside. I use the juice of lemons going bad or drying up. Works with any citrus really.
DF has his microwave on a shelf up above counter. I'm short enough that I have to how grosse it is and I am constantly trying to clean it b/c it icks me out. He's too tall that he doesn't see the crap stuck inside hence the no need to clean it mentality
I clean ours here every 2 wks, we have a cover for the food being nuked and DF's I clean whenever I'm there visiting.2012: The Year Of The Purge!

I like this challenge. Yeah, lemon works great. Will be on it today.
It's funny sometimes how I can use the microwave and never notice and then other times I'm freaking about how dirty it is!

I just did round 1 with the vinegar method. Going for round 2 because the top of the microwave was pretty bad.

Thanks for the mini challenge. I just finished cleaning the inside of my fridge, and I was about to clean my microwave when I saw this thread. Perfect! I'm going to go try your method of cleaning your microwave, TigerGirl1226. I'll let you know how it goes!

Great! That was a great idea - thanks! Once I was done with the microwave, I used the hot vinegar water to wipe down my fridge and top of stove hood too!!

~Steamed it while unloading the dishwasher and wiped it out before loading the plate in with the dirty dishes and running. Very easy and only a few extra minutes and a bit of elbow grease.
