Spring is a great time to declutter our homes! Throw it away, have a yard sale, give to charity-get rid of the stuff cluttering up your homes! I'm starting to declutter again. So far I've thrown away a bug zapper, a 32 gallon trashcan full of "junk" from the backyard, and given a bag of clothes to charity. I hope that this will enable me to be more organized.
If you need some decluttering help, tips, or just a push in the right direction, check out this website:
I've been looking at that site for quite a few months now and really like it! I have been in major declutter mode since my neighborhood is having a garage sale coming up soon and I try to do Flylady's *27 Fling Boogie* every day.
Editing to add what I'm getting rid of......... a few toys ds has outgrown, a few articles of mine and dh's clothes, some teacups and saucers that we never use that are just taking up cabinet space, a Circle Scissor (scrapbooking tool) that I don't like, a pic frame that doesn't match our decorating theme, books that we no longer want, a couple of videos we no longer want......... I know there's more, but I don't feel like getting up to go look. LOL!
Another bag of clothes to the charity bin.
A bag of old underwear:toothy: to the trash-I bought all new for DD's, old ones are GONE!
I have about 10 items to go to the consignment shop, will try to go today!
Cleaned out the refrigerator-another bag of trash
Hope to find some more stuff today! What have YOU gotten rid of????
That`s a great idea, Danielle! I`ve been decluttering slowly for 3 months now! I have gotten rid of so much stuff, I couln`t tell you all!!!!:toothy: I`ve done this with the help of Fly Lady.
I think I gave away at least 10 feet by 8 feet of space and 5 feet high worth of stuf!!! Seriously, we couldn`t walk in the basement anymore! I was just SAVING EVERYTHING!
Now the kids can play in the basement and anywhere for that fact! But, I still got much to declutter.
So I`m in`! This week I`ve prepared a bag of old clothes to give to the church the size of a grocery back. (I do small give aways at a time )
Boy, do I have to clean out the fridge...I`m almost afraid...:shame:
Oops! Forgot to say thanks for the web site, Danielle! I`ve been there before but I never read their articles on decluttering, so I think I will...
I got more stuff gathered up today for the garage sale.........
Shrimp forks (we never use them)
Old Pampered Chef pizza/pastry roller (the wooden one - I got the newer version so no need to keep this one)
2 mini Pampered Chef recipe booklets (I have never used them)
A couple of wine glasses from Red Lobster (if it didn't have the logo emblazened all over the glasses I would keep them and make a glittery goblet candle holder out of them)
Baby blanket that never got used
Nightlight that was a gift (will never use it)
Compact disc that we don't listen to
Couple of videos that ds doesn't watch anymore
A couple of more books
Air purifiers that we don't use (I can't stand the noise)
Me too. I'm in on this challenge. Don't know if I can post daily but will atleast weekly.
But I have a question.....Mustang80 Wrote:I have about 10 items to go to the consignment shop, will try to go today!
My question is, how much do you have to give the consignment shop. I checked out 2 places here and one wants 50% of sale price and other one wants 60%. Do you have to give them that much. Seems like you would have to sell you stuff for big price just to feel like you made something off of it and then it wouldn't sell cause the cost is too much. Just would like info on consignment shops.
Thanks and I'm up for the declutter challenge no mater how I have to do it.
My consignment shop takes 50%, but these are things I know I won't get enough for on eBay or at a yard sale. This shop is mid to upscale, and the lady is very picky. She will only take what is in style or brand name. It's an easy way to get rid of a bunch of things at once, because really, they are not making me any money sitting in the house. I just want them GONE! (PS-I still haven't gotten to the consignment shop. Hopefully I will get there this week!
I'm in I already deep cleaned all of my house and my basement is full to have a yard sale.Hopefully very soon and hope it won't rain since it has the past 2 weekends.Still have to do the shed and garage(the hard ones)We are getting rid of tons of toys, clothes, eerything you can think of.I just gave 4 big boxes of stuff to my neighbor.Where did i get al this stuff
I cleaned two kitchen cupboards with stuff I was saving to make crafts with the kids(and I never do ) I have boys who prefer to run and play sports outside than sit with their mom, making crafts!
So all this, added to 2 bags, which I will bring to my kids`school for projects.
I also filled another bag of clothes, books, magazines I don`t use anymore for the church!
My home is starting to feel lighter, a little everyday!
Today I (with DD's help) decluttered a trash bag full of broken Barbie stuff and headless Barbies! It felt good to put that stuff in the trash! We have so much Barbie stuff, it really needed to be sorted out, organized, or trashed. Now hopefully they will be able to find what they want to play with! I also decluttered a heavy sofabed from my basement. I'm giving it to my mom, but it hasn't left the house yet. As soon as DH gets someone to help him get it out, it leaves! Woo HOO! This feels great!
Ok yeah for us ds got off the bottle with no problem,so those are in the bag for our yard sale, also all of my fat clothes!!!!!!!I have gone down almost 3 sizes since Feb,loosing 20lbs!!!!,hoping to add more to my yard sale pile. But needless to say I brought more clothes in this weekend after my trip to a closing K-mart,bought 2 pair of jeans in smaller sizes of course for only $3!!,plus a pair of black pants for $1.5(reg $19)better than running around naked when I lose the rest of this weight.
More decluttering going on! Yesterday I decluttered a large trashcan full of old boards from the backyard. The trash men took them today! :hooray: We decluttered our old Lincoln Town car, or so I thought. DH decided to trade it for a worse looking Bronco that's all beat up and rusty! At least he keeps it at his parents house. Flylady is gearing up for a super fling boogie beginning next week. I love to read what people declutter. Old pregnancy test sticks, skulls, etc. Really weird stuff. If I think of it, I'll post the list when it comes up so you can read it too. It's very interesting and funny!
What are you decluttering? Did you all fall off the wagon at the same stop????
Today we decluttered 2 pickup truck loads of TRASH AND JUNK from our backyard! :hurray: Old boards, weights from our old windows, an old lawn mower, etc. etc. The yard looks better already! I'm bugging DH about that clothesline now that we have room!!! :hurray:
PS: Don't forget to send your weight totals into Flylady if you're a member for the Super Fling Boogie! I sent in about 300 pounds just with the stuff from the yard!
This is what I decluttered from the basement today:
From DD2, who is almost 11-her stroller-whew! That thing weighed a ton!
Also from DD2-booster seat for kitchen table. She hasn't needed this for a while!
Box of vinyl flooring-looks like wood. My mom gave me this about 10 years ago....
Gallon insulated water jug-it leaks!
An old plastic hamper that was broken, filled it with wrapping paper trash too.
Boy! That felt good! I'm gonna send my poundage to Flylady right now.
Well, I was doubtful, but yesterday, dh & I cleaned out 1/2 of the junk in the garage. We moved in Oct. & that was the unofficial dumping ground. So, we put things where they went, started a garage sale pile and threw out a big garbage bag full of garbage that I can't believe we didn't throw out at the old house! I'm feeling pretty good!
I`m still emptying my house...I`ve given 3 big boxes of stuff for the anual garage sale for the handicapped people, where my aunt goes.
I have just filled two bags of old clothes to give to the church.
I`m looking through some books the kids don`t read anymore. There having an exchange at school next week.
But, can someone tell me if ONE DAY my house will be uncluttered? I`m sooo tired of all the stuff I have accumulated over the years...I want SPACE here!
