    Default Gardening Update!

Thank you ladies for all your help!

Zac is planting the following: carrots, broccoli, peppers, jalepenos, and lettuce.

I got the following plants: green peppers, strawberries, cantalopes, cucumbers, tomatoes.

I got the following seeds: roma tomatos, onions, peas, carrots, spinach, green onions, and lavendar. I got the lavendar to plant along our fence because it says it attracts butterflies. I think Wesley would like to see the butterflies.

Next question---the previous owners of our house planted a grape vine on the fence. It looks like it's actually sprouting grapes. Anyone know what I am supposed to do for the care of a grape vine?

Congrats on the garden Nichole. You'll really enjoy the fresh veggies. I don't know how to care for the grapevine, I think it's pretty hardy and just needs some water when you water everything else. Homemade grape jelly is the BEST. (I don't make it, just eat it.....lol)

I leave my grapes be. When I spray my other plants with an all purpose feed, I spray the base of the grapes too. No set schedule.

Do a search on line or get some books at the library -- grapes need pruning, but I wouldn't do it for this year. It needs to happen before they sprout.

Your county agri-extension agency is an excellent resource... use them! Ask about the grapes. They can help you.
