Question Not exactly a gardening question...

but it kind of is! I figured you guys here would be the pest experts!

Once again this year we have ants, ants everywhere! This year they have invaded our patio, garden path and my kitchen! Most years, I can figure out where they are getting into the house, and I put some talc down and they go away (they won't walk on the powder). BUt this year, their super secretly trained army of ants must have dug some secret tunnels in a plan to seige my kitchen! I cannot find out where they are coming in! And I can't find what they are looking for either! I took apart my whole kitchen looking for food or anything that had rolled under the microwave, stove, fridge, etc. and I found NOTHING!

Does anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of them? DH already sprayed the chemical stuff around the entire house, patio, pathway etc. It kept them away for about 2 weeks and they came right back! So I would love to hear if you guys have any suggestions I can try! Of course, I don't want to spend a fortune, but at this point I will try anything short of an exterminator!

We use Diatomaceous earth around the perimeter of the house and that seems to do a pretty good job.

Inside I wipe all kitchen surfaces, bottles in cabinets etc. with vinegar and bag up sweet stuff. (sugar bowl & canister included)
