How not to waste lettuce?
I bought 6 red romaine & 6 green romaine and 3 buttercrunch plants. We've been eating them all spring, but two people don't eat that much lettuce. I never got around to visiting and giving any away, I'm embarassed to say. How do you grow lettuce so that you don't waste it? I'm thinking maybe twwo heads a week...should I just plant like two seeds a week and stagger them like that??
Needless to say I've never grown lettuce before. And I don't like mesculin (cut and come again salad greens).

We are having the same problem I currently have 7 heads of lettuces ready to eat. When I worked in a cafe during high school they used to get a big bucket of iced water and shred all the lettuce and keep it in the fridge in the bucket it lasted ages never went brown. So I would eat them when you need them and when you think they are going to start to die off harvest them all and you will get another 10 days out of them by keeping them in iced water, hope this helps
